The spring season is slowly approaching, and what better way to get ready for the warmth and sunshine of the spring and summer than cleaning your house and getting it ready for the beautiful weather! Spacing these tasks out over the next few weeks will allow you to enjoy the end of March and ring in April with a clean and organized home! So grab your favorite cleaning products and turn on your favorite playlist because you won’t know peace until your house is decluttered. You can sit back, relax, and not worry about cleaning again – until next spring.
CLEANING SUPPLY CABINET
Sounds a little silly to start cleaning your cleaning supplies, but trust me, this should be done occasionally and will save you tons of space and money in the long run. Keeping all of your cleaning supplies and products in one place will help you cut down on cleaning time and make the tedious process of cleaning and organizing so much easier! It’s also important to remember to keep your cleaning products clean. Clean out your vacuum, wash your washcloths, and replace the bottom of that swiffer or the top of that duster! Keeping your cleaning products both clean AND organized will ensure that your spring cleaning goes smoothly and productively!
BEDROOM CLOSET
Your closet might be one area in your house that isn’t dirty or messy, per se, but I think we can all agree it could use just a little TLC. Start by getting rid of as many clothes as you can (because I know you’re not wearing every single item in that closet often enough to keep it)… After separating them into piles to trash, sell, or donate, plan out how you want to organize the rest of your clothes. Some great ways to make the most of your space is to add furniture to the floor of your closet, like a small dresser. This way, you can maximize the amount of space in your closet by using the racks to hang clothes from, but also using the floors to store other objects you can’t hang, like shoes or pants. You can even add hanging organizers to the wire racks of your closet and fold and place jeans, leggings, and any pants or bottoms that are impractical to hang up.
FRIDGE AND PANTRY
I mean, who knows, you may still have a leftover gingerbread house from Christmas or old Valentine’s Day cookies in the freezer. I am not one to judge, I just to advise you to clean out your kitchen! Maybe you don’t have the time and energy to attack the kitchen as a whole, so clean out the problem areas, which include where most of your food gets stashed: aka your pantry and refrigerator. Take everything out of your fridge and freezer and give both a good wipe-down. Then sort through everything and throw away any food that has gone bad or is unusable. Do the same with your pantry. You can even take this one step further and add some fancy but inexpensive containers to your pantry or fridge to keep everything organized.
LINEN CLOSET
Let’s be completely honest, has anyone ever cleaned out their linen closet? It might be time right now. You probably have old Barbie sheets or Dora blankets (I know I certainly did) stuffed somewhere in the back of this closet. These items probably haven’t been touched in years, so why keep them and let your house get more cluttered? If they’re in good condition, donate them to a homeless shelter or any other facility that accepts these sorts of items so they can be put to better use for others in the future. Similarly, go through all the towels you may own, and get rid of the ones that are bleached or no longer soft, fluffy, and usable, and trash or donate (if in good condition), as well.
