So this is my second experience at Walmart Eye center in Titusville FL which is why I am writing this review. I got my glasses from Walmart Eye center, but I got my prescription from my previous Eye Doctor whom I trust. I then took my wife to Walmart Eye center to get her eye examination there and then to get her prescription and a new set of glasses, since it’s all covered by my insurance policy from my current job. So the first really strange thing is that after they took our insurance information and completed the eye examination the eye doctor wanted a $10 co-payment, so I said okay fine heres my Visa card, he says “I’m sorry we only except cash” what? so I go to the ATM and have to pay a $2.00 ATM transaction charge to go back and give the Walmart Eye doctor $10 bucks cash (kind of like an under the table waitress tip). We then go to pick glasses and my wife wants to use her own frames and the next Walmart Eye Specialist with a white lab coat starts talking to us in a very condescending manner about what our Insurance benefit will allow us to have, basically forcing us into a set of frames from Walmart. I then look at her prescription and realize that the Eye examiner in the other room has purposely left out the Axis information and the P.D. (Pupillary Distance) information from the prescription. Then I ask the doctor “we might want to get a second set of glasses and frames elsewhere, so can we have the full Eye Examination prescription please” he says “ that cost an additional $20 dollars and we only except cash for that as well”. So basically if I didn’t go to the ATM and give them another additional $20 dollars cash we couldn’t have our full prescription to shop elsewhere if we wanted to do so.
Here’s whats interesting, The Walmart Eye center in Titusville bills my Insurance Co. for the full amount of a thorough and full Eye Examination and Prescription to get glasses, so there billing you twice if you don’t find what you like. They bill your insurance co. then they try to get an additional $20 CASH under the table for AXIS and P.D. (Pupillary Distance Information which should be in your prescribtion that you just obtained from them). They should be ashamed for trying to force customers into buying only their frames and lenses and not giving them all of there examination results, and then trying to get cash from customers with no record of the transactions, it’s ridiculous. Also no other Eye Examiner does this in Titusville Fl. If you get an Eye Examination and pay for it you should get all of the prescription not part of it.
