When I first made my appointment, I and the employee setting it settled on one date and time. Then she handed me a card with that written on it. Once I got home, I noticed that the date written on the card was one day after the date we had agreed upon. I called and got that cleared up. But then, one week before that date, I got a call confirming my appointment the next day after the call. A completely different day. I thought, whatever, and just went with it.
When I arrived, the optometrist and everyone working were very friendly and helpful. After the exam, I ordered a pair of prescription glasses and, less than a week later, they had arrived and they were very much as I expected. So, all good there.
However, FTC regulations state that any eye examiner must provide a copy of an individual's prescription to that individual immediately after the eye exam or at least after payment for the exam. This did not happen. The FTC regulation further states that an individual must not be forced to ask for the copy of the prescription. It should be provided automatically. This did not happen. Now, a little over a week after my exam, I have called and requested a copy of my prescription, and I'm now waiting to see if I receive a copy. The copy should be detailed and complete enough for me to be able to order another pair of prescription glasses from wherever I like--that is the purpose and spirit of the FTC regulation. I'm waiting to see if this will be the case.
