I was going to buy a 6 pack, among other things at this store. My adult son and his daughter were in line behind me. The cashier asked for ID, no problem I thought, I'm 65! "Not yours," he said, "hers!" Pointing at my granddaughter. "Why? I'm the one buying the beer." "It's a Walmart policy, since you are together." "But we aren't together. They are behind me with their own transaction." "But you look like you are together." I spoke to both the manager and the supposed "general manager" (Gabby-she lied, she's not the general manager according to Walmart Inc.). Both "managers" said it was the policy of Walmart.
According to 800-Walmart, it is NOT a Walmart policy. Even if it was, the fact I was the one purchasing the alcohol, my ID was the ONLY ID required.
I cancelled my purchase and told Gabby she just lost a customer to which she replied, "Oh no!" In perhaps one of the most flippant responses possible.
Sure, I may have to drive 20 miles to shop, but the drive will be worth it.
