Walmart Pharmacy in Rifle

Let me start by saying…. I’m from 2000 miles away. I ended up stuck in Colorado because of a county wide airline glitch on 7/20/24. While’s stuck in Denver I decided to take on another job in Rifle Colorado for 4 days. Upon stopping at an awesome restaurant in Dillon Colorado (Smashburger) I saw an urgent care across the street. I walked over and explained that I was out of one of my sleeping medications because I had planned to be home yesterday. Being a controlled substance, ambian , They were very helpful but understandable only wanted to give me a 1 week supply. I was totally fine with this this because I was only here 4-5 more nights max. Being that we were only an hr from Rifle , where the job was , the urgent care and I just picked a city market pharmacy, no reason, just what she knew was there and open . Fast forward 10 more miles into the trip and interstate 70 west is shut down due to a fatal accident. I sit in traffic 3+hrs, and by the time I arrive it’s 5:10 and city pharmacy is closed because it’s Sunday. I ask an associate and they tell me that Walmart pharmacy in Rifle is open until 6:00 on Sundays. I call the urgent care, they say no issue nothing you could do about a fatal accident , we will send it to Walmart. Now 5:30 I arrive at Walmart and I’m greeted very kindly by a woman. About 15 min later I’m called by Jeff , the managing pharmacist at Walmart, he tells me “I have bad news” (very dramatically ) , I can’t give you your medication because city pharmacy is closed and I can’t confirm you didn’t pick it up there. I said Jeff, that was a 1 week supply, I just called the urgent care at 5:10 and told them the story and they called here. We go back and forth, he explains how it’s a controlled substances and some $3 million dollar lawsuit , blah blah bla . I said it’s fine , just give me one single emergency pill so I can sleep tonight, and we can figure it all out tomorrow. NOPE, nothing I can do. I said Jeff, let’s call Stacey at the urgent care , NOPE, I already talked to her, she explained it all, but I’m not helping you. At this point I’m very I’m frustrated and leave the pharmacy area to go grocer shopping. Mind you , I have been taking this sleeping pill for 30 years, my brain struggles to shut down, I have tried 50 different things, but this one pill allows me to sleep and feel refreshed in the morning . Mid way through grocery shopping I’m just so frustrated I have to go get his name, store number, and position. Im very calm, but prepared, so I open my voice notes on my phone. I ask Jeff, for his full name, and position, he comes around the counter to talk to me, physically shaking at this point , I’m freaking 5’7 168lbs , either way, and I have this all recorded because I have had pharmacist prior ask why I get my scrips filled in different states, and well, I work on fighter jets all over the country! Luckily based on my job , I do get toBuild a few friendships with some prominent people in the world, one being a high level executive at the Walmart brand . I made it crystal clear first , I no longer wanted meds from Walmart here , BUT EXPECT A CALL! HIS RESPONSE “ see what you’re doing now is trying to coheres me into giving you your medication.” For the third time,keep in mind im recording this interaction now. And I say Jeff , you dont get it, I don’t care about the meds anymore, I care that you acted incredibly pompous, you didn’t try in any way to solve the problem, didn’t ask me any questions as to why I didn’t make it to the first place that closed at 5:00 on time, you just stuck with “for all I know you picked it up there, then came here after and had it filled here too. I said again, Jeff, you spoke with the person that wrote the scrip , you know I called her and we talked about the accident all over the news that shut I70 west down for 3+ hrs. Dillon and rifle require me to drive exactly through the accident that has been all over the news. Do the math. So now Jeff will get a call from someone whom actually matters and cares about the Walmart brand.@walmart store 532

First time coming here and not a good experience, my kid needed a med that wasn’t available in our regular pharmacy and I was told it be a while before they got it back in stock. Our provider’s office called around and found out this pharmacy was the only one that had our medication in stock and sent me here, it had been 2 days since they sent the prescription so I called to see if they got it and the pharmacist told me that it has been ready but no one called us to let us know. I said ok can I pick it up later? He said we close at 7 p.m. I work far away and I rushed over here so I made it by 6:35 pm there was a line so by the time I got there it was 6:50 pm Lady at the pickup window asked me if I would pay cash or if I had insurance I said I have insurance, she asked for my card and I gave it to her. She asked if this card was for medical purposes do you have the one with the bin number? I was confused as that was the only card I was given. I said that is all I have and I have never been asked for a bin number before, she went to talk to the pharmacist and she took a while. She said you’ll have to pay cash or get the bin number. I was getting upset at this point since this took me by surprise. I asked if my provider send my insurance information with the prescription she said no when it’s the first time we fill a prescription we fill prescriptions as cash. Ok, then when I called shouldn’t they have asked oh it’s your first time here do you have insurance or will this be cash??? Or at least say hey bring your insurance information with you if you have one and make sure you find out what your prescription BIN NUMBER IS because we don’t have that information. She just told me to come back when I get the information. Not helpful, irritating, and just a waste of time for new customers. Don’t come here unless they are the only ones that have your prescription in stock and you’re screwed like me. Find out what your insurance bind number is!! And no our regular pharmacy never asked for the bin number they have a directory of bin numbers for all insurance companies.

This pharmacy is terrible. Nothing is ever ready when they quote it. I put in for my rxs 2 or 3 days in advance sometimes and they still won't be ready. I'm also being over charged for certain rxs. I'm getting an off-brand version of one of my rxs and they are charging double what City Market charged for the name brand. Plus the one guy who works there is extremely rude and snippy and clearly hates his job.

This pharmacy used to be pretty good, but the last couple of years it has gotten awful. My wife and I both have maintenance Rx that we fill about once a month. The cost at WalMart is over 2X WITH insurance what City Market charges without insurance. WalMart is the only pharmacy in the area that will accept our insurance so we're kind of tied to them, and it seems that they know it. We typically have to wait for several days past the indicated ready date for our meds, which is irritating at best, given we live in a nearby town, and can cause issues if we need a refill prior to vacation or needing to go somewhere.Some of their staff is friendly and helpful, but there a couple that are just downright rude and make you feel like it's an inconvenience if you have a question.The most recent issue is that WalMart updated their software for their debit machines and now they no longer accept our HSA debit card. The only way to pay their exorbitant prices are to pay out of pocket then go through the paperwork and file a claim with the HSA carrier to get reimbursed. The HSA company has asked WalMart to correct the issue, but so far they have not even received a response. So not only are we "locked in" to using them, they won't accept the HSA card that is a benefit from our employer.You can do better WalMart....

I am a loyal customer and have been for a few years. There is another Pharmacy in town, but their standards and the standards of Walmart Pharmacy are very different. Walmart' staff treat all customers like customers who deserve their privacy and dignity. They are exceptionally fast because they are well staffed and very efficient. They take pride in their short wait times for good reason. If they tell you it will take longer than 30 minutes, they are very sorry for the wait. They als never misplace or mix up refill requests. If I call it in, it will be done. This pharmacy is the best in Rifle

Walmart wouldn't honor a Good RX discount for a drug I needed. They wanted over $100 for it.The pharmacist was sympathetic and told me that if I found another pharmacy to call her and she would transfer my perscription over.The pharmacy at City Market honored the Good RX discount and only wanted $9 for the same medication.I called Walmart back and got a pharmacy tech named Eric. He didn't care what the pharmacist told me and just kept saying, "that's not how it works." He was extremely rude and I will avoid this pharmacy from now on.

I received a text saying it was time to fill 2 rx's but it did not say what they were.I called the pharmacy to see. Eric answered and even though I gave him my name and dob he told me that he had no idea what rx's they are. He said that is an auto send feature and he had no way of finding out. I told him I thought that was kind of weird but okay. on my way home I stopped by Walmart went inside which I hate to do because of covid-19 but I asked a different person a pharmacist and he looked it right up on the computer and told me exactly what they were. It is customer service that ones like Eric provide that prevents me from having all of my rx's filled at Walmart. I prefer to go to Clark's in a different town. Not all of the pharmacy technicians provide bad service in fact there are many of them that provide excellent service but it seems to be the same person each time I do have a bad experience and I have seen his name come up on other comments as well. Not a complainer but when I see a problem that I can't do anything about my only recourse is to do a review.

That's the last time I'll use Walmart pharmacy. An Rx that was on the $10 list the last time I filled it was removed from the list. When I ordered my refill, there was no alert or warning that the Rx now costs $52. They won't take it back once it's paid for even if the bag is unopened. You got my extra $42, Walmart, and just lost any future business from me.
