Buyer Beware! Bad experience! We bought a vehicle from this dealership. We were offered a warranty for an additional cost, which we declined. After signing the paper and handing us the keys the salesman told us that because we had declined the warranty, he could tell us more about the history of car (Wait - isn't this is the information that we had just asked about BEFORE declining the warranty?). Apparently the dealership discovered that the engine had serious issues due to what appeared to be neglect and the car likely had never had an oil change in the entire 80,000 miles of the car. We were told not to worry because he (the salesman) had the "best mechanics in the business" and they had the whole thing "all fixed up", which turned out to not be true at all (we discovered later that they cleaned it up and made it look nice but nothing more). We couldn't believe what this guy was telling us! In hindsight, we should have been more aggressive with the salesman after he divulged this information, left the keys and car with him, and put an immediate stop payment on our cashier's check but we were too nice and polite, despite being totally shocked but not really sure what to think because the salesman was so proud of all of the work that had been put into "fixing" this engine and how awesome it was that were driving away in a practically brand new engine after all the work done by his mechanics. Yes, we did decline the warranty, and yes, used cars are always sold "as is" so that part is on us. However, I would hope that a dealership would sell warranties to cover potential unknown problems that neither party is aware of instead of using a potential upsell of a warranty as an excuse to withhold information about the condition of the vehicle. The bottom line - he new information about the vehicle that affected the value of the car and would potentially sway us to walk away and he intentionally withheld that information. It's not about the warranty. Like I said, selling a potential warranty should never be about hiding things you know to be wrong with the vehicle, but always about some insurance for the buyer when the seller doesn't know what might be wrong. I can understand that dealerships can't possibly know all potential future problems but, that's not what this situation is. A better way to do business would be disclosing the potential engine problem and then explaining that, due to the nature of the vehicle's condition, it is sold "as is" without any warranty options. At least that would make the buyer feel like they have all the facts. Was it legal? I'm pretty sure it was. Was it honest? Nope. Ethical? Absolutely not. Well, we left with our car, hoping that this guy's mechanics did actually get it "all fixed up" like we were told, which turned out to not be true at all - as confirmed by two different mechanics. Long story short, a few weeks after purchase, the engine started knocking. We immediately took it to our mechanic and then a dealership (for a second opinion) and have been told that the engine is completely toast and we need a totally new engine. Please steer clear of this place! They use sales tactics that are what every potential buyer is afraid of in a stereotypical used car salesman.
Also, problems worth mentioning, although undeserving of a 1 star review - we called the insurance company to add it to our policy only to discover that the vehicle was "uninsurable". We were required to have the antitheft system fixed before our insurance company would add it to our policy, something our insurance company told us the dealership should have fixed before selling it. Also, this dealership "took care" of all of the license and registration. We had to call them after the temporary expired because we never received plates. They had not done the registration as promised. They did end up getting it done but only after we had to park the car because temporary tags were expired.
