TLDR: "We Fix All" used wrong/aftermarket (cheaper) screen after specifically agreeing to use the proper screen; did not seal the phone back properly, allowing water infiltration* and rendering the new screen partially inoperable; blamed me for the back not being sealed/saw no problem with back lifting off. *This phone comes with a IP68 water resistance rating form the manufacturer making water infiltration nearly impossible if sealed properly.
Note: I truly hate bashing small businesses, but this business is obviously not trustworthy or competent, bring your money someplace else.
Background:
I've done repairs like this in the past. I looked into this one and it was more than I wanted to take on, so opted instead to pay a business that has done many of these and who could ostensibly do it correctly.
I asked "We Fix All" if they could fix the damaged screen on my Samsung Galaxy with an OE replacement screen with a fingerprint sensor. I was told yes for $150, or for $130 without the sensor (non OE). I opted for the OE replacement screen with the sensor to keep full functionality. They said 1 hour. I checked back in 1, he said 30 more minutes, it still wasn't done.
When I returned to pick it up (an hour and 45 minutes), I tested it, and I noted that the fingerprint sensor was not working. The employee who had done the repair hadn't checked (?), obviously because he didn't need to, he knew he had installed the wrong screen intentionally to get the business. Now he tells me I can either pay the quoted amount for the non OE screen or wait for him to uninstall it (now, he acknowledged he doesn't have the proper OE screen). I don't have time for this, so I begrudgingly agree to pay him $115 for his time and the part and leave.
This was clearly a purposeful bait and switch and extortion - they knew there were competitors in the mall who would install the OE agreed and they couldn't, but they knew that there was little I could do after 2 hrs and the screen already being installed.
Fast forward 60 days, a portion of the screen stops working. I can't unlock it. I bring it back, and I'm told (1) it worked beautifully when you left - as in that's the end of their responsibility, and (2) the clear gap in the back panel where it wasn't re-glued properly wasn't an issue, and I shouldn't be trying to separate it (I very clearly wasn't, I was showing the obvious gap from poor repair work).
As I said, I don't enjoy doing harm to small businesses, but this business is unethical and I hope others don't lose money to them.
