I arrived at 5:50pm, hoping to get some shotgun shells for an event that started at 7pm. I waited for about 10 minutes, then asked an associate who was stocking shelves if there was someone who could open the locked case for me. She told me no, and went back to stocking shelves. I asked what I should do, and she advised that I needed to go to customer service at the front of the store.
I went to the customer service desk, and the lady working there told me she would page someone and they would meet me in the sporting goods department. I went back, and waited 20 minutes before going back to customer service. A different employee told me she would page someone, and they would meet me back there. I waited 15 more minutes, then asked 2 associates that were stocking shelves, and they told me they would find someone for me.
After 10 more minutes of waiting, I asked an associate in electronics for help, and they told me they would page someone and to wait in sporting goods.
At this point I knew I would miss my event, but figured I would buy the shells anyway and save them for the next one. At approximately 7:05pm, a very nice employee happened to come to the sporting goods desk, and I asked if he was the person with the key. He said he was not, and was about to clock out for lunch. I told him I'd been waiting for over an hour, and he apologized sincerely and went to find someone. A few moments later, he returned and told me that there was no one working at that time who had a key to the locked case.
All-in-all, I waited for an hour and seventeen minutes, from 5:50pm until 7:07pm, when I could have left immediately had I simply been told that there was no one there who could unlock the merchandise.
Additionally, I could not reach anyone by calling the store's phone number, so I called the corporate office. The gentleman who took my call at corporate placed me on hold so that he could try to reach someone at store level, and was unsuccessful. It's absolutely mind-boggling to me that even the corporate office could not get through to store management when they called.
This was an extremely disappointing experience, and a colossal waste of time.
