I received my first Shingles vaccine here and the pharmacist was wonderful. I tried to get my second dose of the vaccine today and the encounter was completely unprofessional and beyond frustrating. Their website says vaccine walk-ins are welcome and that's what I was told when I got the first dose. I stood in a long line only to be told I had to schedule online, so I used my phone to connect to their website where I ended up in a loop of answering the same question and it would not go any further. I stood in the long line again to ask for assistance. The counter person sent me to the pharmacist who said she "couldn't touch" my phone. I told her she didn't need to touch it, just tell me how to navigate this loop. She was very short saying she couldn't help me and I could call the 800 number for help. The lady at the 800 number was very polite and stated this pharmacy did walk-in vaccinations and they should accommodate me. I explained exactly what transpired. She assured me that was not policy and read Walgreens policy to me. I went back to the pharmacist and asked the lady on the phone to repeat what she just told me. As she was repeating the policy to the pharmacist the pharmacist very rudely kept interrupting and talking over her, not listening. I asked the pharmacist to stop interrupting and listen to the lady on the phone. Instead, she grabbed the intercom and requested manager assistance, turning away and blowing me off. The floor manager then came and her first words were, "I can't help you with anything in the pharmacy." I explained the problem and wanted her to hear what the lady on the phone said about store policy, but she was no longer on the line. The floor manager apologized and recommended I call at 8am tomorrow and speak with the store manger since she couldn't do anything. I told her that wasn't convenient as today is my day off and since they advertise walk-ins are welcome I was very unhappy that I just wasted almost an hour of my time because of their faulty information. She too cut me off, smugly asking me to "Take a minute to breathe" and she'd give me some other avenues for resolution. I stopped without finishing my sentence and gave her my undivided, uninterrupted attention. She then repeated what she'd already told me. I looked at her with a questioning look and waited. When there was no further response, I asked, What are the other avenues?" She looked puzzled and replied, "that's it." At this point I could not believe this entire experience just took place. I said thanks. You just wasted even more of my time repeating what you already told me. I told her the customer service was terrible and their website information and corporate policy should match store policy and left.I went home and accessed the Walgreens website on my home computer. They showed appointments an hour and a half after I was there! However, after my treatment and the pharmacists disposition, there was no way I wanted her sticking a needle in my arm. I called my insurance to see if I could get the 2nd dose at a different pharmacy. After confirming I could, I went to Fred Meyer's website and scheduled an appointment. I recently switched all my prescriptions to Fred Meyer and they have been fabulous.Walgreens bought out the pharmacy I previously used and it has been a terrible experience for myself and everyone I talk with: long lines for pick up inside and drive thru, long phone waits with dropped calls, but today was the icing on the cake. I tried giving them a chance since the switchover has been hectic and they have been understaffed. Before embarking on the buyout at a time when there are labor shortages nationwide, some careful planning would have been a good idea. I can deal with waiting and give grace in situations like this, but polite customer service is key. Needless to say, I will not be back!
