Read MoreI've been coming to Valvoline for routine maintenance for the past few years ever since a friend recommended it, and the La Mesa shop is the closest to me. First of all, the employees here have always been very kind and welcoming to me (and so far, that's even been consistent across other Valvoline locations as well, but I digress). They answer any questions I have and show me the soiled parts they tell me I need to replace (e.g., filters, blown lights, etc.) so I can make an informed decision about the services I want. I also really like that Valvoline uses Carfax to keep track of the maintenance you perform. Lastly, every time I come in, the employees always seem positive and like they take pride in their work. They're a bit pricier than where I used to go before moving to Southern California but the service makes it worth it.
I particularly wanted to shoutout the manager, Arturo, for being extremely helpful and demonstrating a commitment to honest service my last two visits. Back in December 2024, I got an oil change and after a few days, I noticed a small oil leak under my car. After the holidays, I went back to the La Mesa shop and explained the issue to Arturo, and he got me fixed right up at no charge. He replaced the drain plug and even redid the oil change to make up for any lost oil. During my most recent visit in April 2025, I needed a brake light replaced, but it appeared the casing surrounding the bulb had been broken at some point. I went on my way and planned to get it fixed elsewhere, but before I could even research other auto shops, Arturo called me and offered to replace the casing at no charge since Valvoline was the last to touch it. Sure enough, they called me back once the part arrived at the shop a week or two later and Arturo and a co-manager named Sergio personally replaced it for me.
To be clear, the point of this review is not to highlight mistakes because that's just a part of running a business and working with humans; nobody's perfect and mistakes are expected. The point of this review is to highlight that management at the La Mesa Valvoline store are honest and own up to their mistakes and act quickly to remedy those mistakes, which is the real measure of professionalism and high quality service. Highly recommend this Valvoline location and will continue coming here for routine maintenance.
