I shopped at Trader Joe's today, and I always take security precautions by changing my account password immediately after shopping. This time, I trusted Trader Joe's as a good company and didn’t change my password right away because I was very hungry. When I got home, I went to change it and discovered that all of my money had been stolen from my card. This happened within less than an hour. I purchased only food items, which should not have had sales tax applied. While the cashier was scanning my items, I noticed 17 cents appeared as the tax on the register, which seemed unusual. However, when he printed the receipt, the tax was not listed. This made me suspect that the cashier might have entered a code or done something unusual, possibly to copy my card information. I wish I had been able to buy more necessary food items that day so I could have enough food to last for a while. Unfortunately, I couldn’t because I commute by bus for shopping since my car’s catalytic converter was stolen over a year ago, and I haven’t been able to afford a replacement. This has made it much harder to shop for groceries in bulk, as I can only carry what I can manage on the bus, limiting my options and resources. When I arrived home and ate something, I decided to change my password, only to be shocked to discover that all my money had been stolen less than an hour after my shopping trip to Trader Joe's. I immediately returned to the store to report the incident. The store manager's reaction was dismissive, treating it as if it were normal for people to report that their money had been stolen after shopping there. When I explained my situation, he simply repeated that “it did not happen in our store," without offering any meaningful help. However, I am sure it did happen there because I always change my password immediately after shopping, except this time, as I trusted Trader Joe's as a reputable company and didn’t think it necessary to do it immediately. Trader Joe’s used to be my favorite store, but now I hate it. I even have some food from them at home, but I can’t bring myself to consume it anymore. I’ve never returned any food items to them out of respect, even when their products were disappointing. Many times, I’ve purchased cheese that tasted off; one time, an Israeli feta cheese was full of mold as soon as I opened it at home. I also bought a tangerine juice that turned bubbly and sour after just one day, even though I stored it properly in the refrigerator. Despite never returning their low-quality products, when I needed their help after my card was skimmed at their store, they did nothing. Instead of assisting me in finding the person responsible, the manager simply repeated the same dismissive statement, showing no respect for me as a customer.
