I purchased a $22k+ truck with 139k miles from here from over 1500 miles away so trusted Jeff when he did a walk around for me and said it had original paint, (which the driver side front fender doesn’t), and it wasn’t in an accident. Which it did have a clean Carfax but we all know how accurate those can be. When I flew there and first opened the drivers door, the door popped loudly bc it contacted the front fender. Jeff must have been deaf to not hear it because to anyone else, you could NOT not hear it. Also the back carpet had bleach or something all over it because the mat and the carpet underneath is bleached and of course he didn’t see that either when I called asking about the condition because he said the inside was mint. I still hoped and trusted the truck was still looked over mechanically like he said and I knew I had a 1800 mile drive back home so had to get going and still bought it. MISTAKE. Within 200 miles of leaving the dealership a cruise control fault popped up and a check engine light. I figured they were connected to each other until the remote start stopped working and then it wouldn’t start correctly the first time. I took it to a dealership and over $4,000 dollars later (because of course the warranty from this dealership didn’t pay for any of it), it needed new catalytic converters, a new starter, and a new temperature sensor. Now, 200 miles later after all of this, the blind spot sensors aren’t working either. Also, I took it to a body shop to get the front fender realigned so it wouldn’t contact the door every time it was opened and they confirmed it was in an accident and most of the fender was bondo. I told Jeff about it and he said he might give some good will once they send me my tags and registration because they already knew they had charged me too much for the fees and registration and owed me some money anyways. Five weeks later I get the tags and a check for $500 dollars. So the “good will” was less than $200 dollars. What an insult. I was in the Highline car business for over 16 years and after this experience, I cannot with a good conscience recommend this place. Buying a used anything for over 22k dollars and within a week and less than 1,000 miles having to pay over 4,000 dollars to keep it running is shameful. Also the back window was at one time broken out and then replaced with a non sliding window. There are broken pieces of glass everywhere behind the seat. It wouldn’t even have passed emissions if I was in a state that required it. They also ignore your texts too and if you call them out on it, they just get extremely rude and defensive. I usually give great reviews, so I’m not a keyboard warrior, but this place just doesn’t earn it. Only reason it’s not a 1 star is because I try to give some grace because I was in the business and the engine hasn’t blown up.

**Updated Again**After putting 3K into the car within weeks of ownership, the check engine light is on once again...this time for a catalytic converter code. This was all within a 5 weeks of purchase and 600 miles of highway driving. We were clearly sold a lemon and I'm taking this as an expensive learning lesson of not buying a used car without a pre-purchase inspection and looking VERY closely at the reviews and reputation of the dealer before buying.***Updated***A week after driving the car home, the engine overheated and a ton of coolant spilled out. Ultimately there was a leak in the water pump gasket as well as a cooling fan assembly & module failure which was causing the problem. In addition, when I brought the car to my mechanic, he noted that there had been an A/C test done as there was dye on the compressor, but it hadn't been repaired and needed to be replaced. The car was priced low and I expected it would need some work, but not $3k in the first week type work. I will note that when I called Jeff about the water pump, he said he would provide the labor for free if I paid for the part which is reasonable for an as-is purchase, but given that he's 70 miles away from me and it would need a tow, I opted to just do it locally out of pocket. Based on my experience, I would guess that Torchlight is prioritizing reconditioning the cars aesthetically (the car was super clean), but I wouldn't count on them to be doing a thorough mechanical inspection/recondition. I think I would definitely say to consider them if they have the car you want, but I wouldn't purchase from them again without a pre-purchase inspection as part of the deal.**Original**Had a great experience buying a 2012 Volvo XC60 from Jeff at Torch Light Motors! We were looking for a safe, older model Volvo for our son to use for college commuting and Jeff had a number of options for us. I'm a huge fan of the no hassle/haggle pricing and the doc/prep fees were pretty reasonable with no high pressure warranties or other bogus fees/adds that dealers use to artificially lower the price for the web. Also, the purchase includes a 1000 mile limited powertrain warranty (50/50 $500 deductible) so there's a bit of peace of mind included if something catastrophic occurs after driving it off the lot. Time will tell as to the how the car holds up mechanically, but so far we're very pleased with the car and experience!
