Buyer Beware! My family and I were looking for a new/used car and saw a Kia Soul for sale outside the Starbucks next to this location. It was being sold by Raffi, who I assume is the owner/manager. Raffi told me that the car had a new engine and was in great condition. I took it for a test drive and bought the car. There were so many issues with this car from the beginning. There was a lien that Raffi didn’t know about from the previous owner. I found that out when I went to register the car under my name at AAA. So he didn’t have the right to sell that car to me at all. So I went back and he assured it was a mistake. It took over a week to get the proper paperwork. Then Raffi registered the car under my information without me being present, not at the DMV but a local registration service center. Which I thought was odd. I took the car only to have it overheat and stall in the middle of the road a few days later. So I had it towed back to this location. It was a loose hose that he fixed. He promised that they looked over the car for any more issues and everything looked good. But not even 2 weeks later my check engine light went on and the car started to make a strange sound. I was done with the lies from him so I took it to a different mechanic. I was informed that the engine Raffi put in was not new. New to the car yes, but a used engine, and according to the mechanic I took it to, he said that the engine had to have been left out in the elements because they found large amounts of rust on the valve train when they removed the valve cover. After getting all the necessary repairs
It cost me over $2,500 to fix what Raffi lied about. I’m assuming this is why he wanted to sell this car fast and put it under my information as fast as possible, to skirt responsibility. I’m extremely disappointed and upset and I will be sure to let everyone I know to not trust him. I understand I should have just walked away from the first sign of shady dealings, but I was in a situation where I needed a car. I also found out later he charged me $200 more than what the car was listed for on the for sale sign. So I will also be looking into this further, to see if I am able to recoup any of my money for selling me a lemon.
