As environmentally conscious people, hubby and I did a ton of research on what sort of baby products we can safely purchase second hand. As first time parents who are also teachers… we also want to save as much money as possible since all things baby are expensive! We’ve visited most of the consignment stores in the area (Plymouth, Northville, Ann Arbor, Ypsi) and just recently discovered this place via a friend’s recommendation. I have to say, The Stork Collection has been one of the best stores we’ve visited. Here are some of the highlights:
- A variety of clothing for boys, girls, and gender neutral options that are well organized by age/size. We were able to find items for every season despite it being winter.
- Clothes were clean, gently used, and we even found several unused items (a few sets of multiple onesies/outfits) with tags!
- Clothing for mamas!!! I’ve had such a hard time finding a good selection of maternity clothes at other baby/kid consignment boutiques, but this place has an entire section dedicated for just maternity wear. Jeans, leggings, dresses, casual and formal attire, shirts, etc. At other secondhand shops they either don’t offer any maternity clothes, or the selection they do have is small and very limited (clothing was lacking style, sizes, or quality). It was so convenient being able to shop for both baby and myself at one store.
- We were also able to find some quality non-clothing items as well: at the time they had a car seat/stroller, a jogger stroller, a pack n’ play, bouncer, several toys, and smaller items like milk storage bags and sheets.
- If you’re not expecting or have children, you can even find quality and stylish secondhand clothing items for self! I browsed the general consignment clothing section and found several items I would buy.
The Stork Collection isn’t a huge establishment, but they organize their inventory very well and we found more items here than any other consignment shop we’ve visited before. The customer service was excellent, they had a public restroom (which this pregnant lady was VERY thankful for), and the prices were very reasonable. This is a must visit for anyone looking to find some secondhand treasures!
