I bought a 2005 dodge dakota, CASH. $10K. The truck was in relatively good shape, body and paint. Engine didn't shake or rattle. That's actually more of a testament to the previous owner(s) than the dealership. It ran well on the test drive. Had some normal wear and tear that you would expect. The only thing I didn't check was the windshield wipers. I didn't because the washer fluid low light was on. However, when I got home I was able to put some water on the windshield, and the wipers did nothing. I added some washer fluid not knowing if that may help. Still nothing. This morning I stopped back at the business and let the (same) salesman know the problem. "Well, it's sold "AS-IS". I was told. What an absolute cowardly cop-out. Holy crap! That is an absolute poor business practice. Totally a 1960's used car excuse.
I have actually been working in the automotive/mechanical industry since 1976. I ended up popping the hood and finding that the wiper motor fuse was missing. It was that simple. I brought it up to their attention, because, wipers are a "safety item". I wanted them to be able to step-up and do the right thing. But instead the denied any responsibility.. Don't shop there.
I hope the owner reads this and responds.
