**Prejudice confrontation sparked by employee onlooker**I came to the store to get my new iPhone exchanged since it was defective out of the box. I was greeted by a young man who looked into it but told me he couldn't help me because there was no manager on site. I asked him to find a solution because I couldn't be without a phone. He advised me to go to the Apple store. I told him I couldn't drive 25 minutes downtown to the mall to see an Apple store. At this point, another employee, Donovan, came over and echoed the statement that there was no manager present and I could not get my phone exchange. He told me I was given the options and I needed to figure it out. I told him waiting three more days or driving downtown to an Apple store were not options; they were just circumstances I was victim to. At this point, he turned to a co-worker and said, "This is what happens when someone who's never been told 'no' their entire life doesn't get their way."I was so shocked by his comments that I laughed in complete disbelief. Never have I been told that I was privileged and unreasonable in my requests for support. By my word choice, appearance, and determination, he assumed that I was exhibiting some sort of unfair or unbecoming privilege.Whether this was an exhibition of racism or prejudice, I do not know. But I know there is no place for this behavior in any setting, especially not in a place of business where I choose to pay money.Note: The district manager was incredibly helpful in finding a store where I could exchange my phone. She was terrific and exhibited empathy on our phone call—well done.
