The owner Andy is a horrible man. My children who are young teens are enthusiast of vintage items. My one son was waiting to ask a price of an item when a lady moved backwards causing my son to step backing knocking over a picture frame. No harm done but he yelled at my son to get the hell out of his store along with other things. I questioned the band behavior but then I told my family let’s leave as we did a customer chased us down apologizing saying she would never support this business and couldn’t believe what she witnessed . She then asked if my other son was special needs and said he was mocking my child who has autism and told him to leave. I didn’t know this at the time So I went back in and gave him and earful. I was in tears to think he had humiliated both my sweet boys for no reason and on Mother’s Day of all days. Talked to other businesses owners and they told me that he has a reputation to insult and belittle kids and woman in his store. Even as far as referring to some people as jungle monkey. Placerville and neighboring business along with customers should not be subjected to this form of abuse. I too am a business owner in a historic district and I can’t believe Placerville historic district association would allow this man to still have a business there after the many complaints I’ve seen reported after this incident.

Absolutely loved visiting Sierra Consignments and exploring Andy’s unique collection of antiques! The shop is filled with one-of-a-kind treasures, and you can tell Andy has a real passion for what he does. His knowledge, friendly attitude, and the thoughtfully curated pieces made the whole experience memorable. I didn’t make a purchase this time, but I already have my eye on a few things and will definitely be returning soon. Highly recommend Sierra Consignments to anyone who appreciates antiques with character and charm!

We had the pleasure of meeting Andy (The Owner) last weekend. It was our first visit. We liked the shop so much that we visited two days in a row and we drove from quite a distance! Looking at the reviews, I am really surprised to see low scores. I think the reviewers may be folks that don't like "real" people... People that can be raw with no filter. Andy is a very cool human with no filter from brain to mouth...this my most favorite type of human...saves me the trouble of guessing. I decided to put on my big girl panties years ago and with that came the decision to choose to not be offended by the folks that have no filter with absolutely no intent to offend others...they are just very real and raw! Andy was full of historical information and has a very wicked sense of humor (my favorite kind of humor). If you offend easily and are extremely entitled, can't see past the quick wit, want to take every little thing personally then keep driving. On the other hand if you can see past the rough edges, you won't be disappointed in this shop. Andy is a person that is very genuine and real. I am most certain that he does not have an agenda set to purposely offend anyone. He is just simply a "tell it as it is" kinda guy. As a business owner myself, I totally understand why Andy may come across as intolerant of some things. Every single day my staff & I deal with peeps in different situations that require us to be cordial and professional but in reality, we would love to shred them verbally but we don't only because it is a challenge to take the worst customer and turn them into a loyal customer while setting strong boundaries.... and I love a good challenge Lol. Andy deals with things his way and he can because it is his shop! Don't like his policies that seem to be reasonable enough? Go elsewhere BUT you will NOT find a better place to find unique / rare treasures that cannot be found elsewhere for reasonable prices and with a good amount of history provided to boot. If you want a well organized atmosphere with fake smiles, overpriced cheaply made junk and employees that have no interest in assisting customers...Go to a retail establishment where you can buy imported junk that falls apart after one use from employees that have no clue how to communicate. Andy has cool stuff everywhere and there may not be rhyme or reason to how it is merchandised but part of the journey is the hunt. We hit the jackpot on the items that we purchased AND we received the fascinating story / history on the items that made it easier to research and confirm. As for his insistence on no backpacks in the back of the shop...he is spot on! We watched a group of three waltz into the shop with large backpacks while acting a bit odd. Andy was straight to the point but not rude at all. They exited quickly and his potential problem was solved. He has a very trained eye and keen sense of people. He simply and calmly said to one kid, "Hey Bud, No backpacks back there". The kid obliged without attitude and paid for a purchase. Easy peasy and both parties were happy. Andy treated us with the utmost respect during our visit and he treated others the same. He has been doing this for a very long time and knows what he is doing. He is no nonsense and has zero tolerance for theft, bad behavior or disrespect. With that said, it may take him a minute to warm up to newbies like with us but once he felt comfortable conversing, we enjoyed his banter. Warning tho... Make sure you have time to visit. Once he begins telling you about his very interesting journey in life, you will want to hear all that he has to say. He really is a wonderful human that has so much awesome historical info stored in his noggin. Please look beyond the bad reviews and take into consideration that this guy has been around for a long time...cut him some slack and enjoy the ride :0)

Went into Andy’s antique shop thinking I’d buy a vintage lamp, ended up having a 35-minute existential debate on the fate of the country. Andy knows his antiques, but let me tell you, this man could run for office. We went from talking about 18th-century furniture to solving world politics, all while surrounded by old clocks that probably work better than Congress. If you're looking for antiques *and* political enlightenment, look no further. Honestly, I left with a chair and a sense of where the country’s heading. Someone put this guy on a debate stage! Highly recommend if you're into antiques and fiery political chats.

Went in looking and found great deal on an antique solid oak dresser yesterday and the owner who’s as cool as can be knocked of 40 bucks, cool store cool stuff, the owners is also a guitar player and grew up with all the great artists of the 1960s and 1970s so we got along great, I’ll be going back to pickup a nice set of vintage wooden skis this week as you can’t beat the prices, and I like a proprietor who plays guitar, great store and it’s been there a long time. Nice variety of Antiques and reasonable.

Just bought another rare find handmade kaleidoscope love it love it and the owner Andy he's a rare find you he's a character he's funny got great information I think this shops got great prices I also love that you can hear some killer music when you walk in the door usually almost always. I have bought road signs to antique Jewellery or if you're looking for that Cheech and Chong album to finish off your record collection you might just find it there.... Andy's got a little bit of everything.

Last time we were in the area after visiting apple hill, we stopped in downtown placerville to shop.. we made the mistake of coming here. My husband found a sweet pin he thought I would like in my Christmas stocking, and carried it around while we looked, the owner was following us around the shop and making me uncomfortable so I eventually left, I didn’t realize he was grilling my husband the whole time. At first my husband thought he’s making small chat and he’s like saying oh yeah we came from Apple hill etc, and the guys like no, no “where did you get that?” And my husbands like thinking it’s about his hat or something and eventually came to “what is that you’re holding in your hand??” Basically he thought we were trying to steal this $3 pin. He tried to cover his ass once my husbands like “um it’s something we are going to buy once we finish looking.” He made my husband feel terrible and I felt bad that my husband still went ahead and purchased the pin for me after he had been treated. Frankly the guy should make his store less of a hovel if he’s worried about customers disappearing in there let alone with “some of the goods,” it was stacked high full of junk and frankly there was a weird odor in there and it wasn’t just this guys personality.
