This is definitely a cool place, but there are certainly things they could improve!There were 3 things that I found a bit frustrating and concerning.First, and most concerning, was coming across a fake certificate of authenticity, on a relatively pricey item. I am a heavy collector of Boston sports memorabilia, so when I saw an Autographed Bobby Orr jersey for $250, I was ecstatic (they usually don’t go for less than $450). Unfortunately, once I saw the jersey, I noticed that the certificate of authenticity was completely fake, I attached a photo of the jersey as well. It says it has certification from “Atlantic Authentics,” which is a known fake authentication company. Upon looking further, the autograph appears it maybe fake as well as there are some noticeable differences between this auto and the ones you can find online. Obviously with this being an antique mall, it is not one individual seller, therefore this vendor having a (possibly) fake item with a (definitely) fake COA is reflecting bad on the mall as a whole. I just wish when buying items or approving vendors, they did a better job checking authenticity. One quick google search will show that authentication company is fake lol.Second, having most items locked up makes it very frustrating to try and look at things. This place is huge and there are tons of items! I came across a bobble head I wanted and didn’t know if it was something worth $150 or $1. I wanted to take a closer look at it. I had to make my way through the maze that is the antiques mall just to find someone that has to then follow me through the maze again to find that item… just to unlock a case lol. There were fragile books from the 1800s out for anyone to pickup, but there were bottle caps locked up in a case. Didn’t make much sense to me.Lastly, there was a lottttt of overpriced stuff which kind of sucks, because most vendors aren’t onsite. Sometimes you can have them call the vendors, but it doesn’t allow for fair negotiation as you don’t actually get to talk with them. One example: They were selling a Terry O Reilly signed jersey for $175. A quick ebay search will show tons of the same jersey sold, but all for around $40. I didn’t even bother to have them call because the price was so far off, it felt like a waste of time. I missed out on a cool item I could’ve possibly got, and the seller missed out on the sale just because they didn’t price it correctly. Someone may consign an item and then that item drops in value (especially with sports), so it’s important they make sure vendors are updating the pricing!I do recommend checking it out, just be VERY careful.
