I never thought a simple stop for groceries would turn into one of the best neighborhood discoveries I’ve ever made. I was driving down Read Blvd one afternoon when I noticed a lot of people coming in and out of a store I hadn’t paid much attention to before—Read Supermarket. Out of curiosity, I decided to check it out… and that decision changed my weekly routine for good. The moment I walked in, I was welcomed by the smell of fresh-cooked food and friendly faces. This wasn’t just a regular corner store. I could see people picking up hot meals, chatting with staff, grabbing groceries, and even getting their phones repaired—all in one place! It felt like a real part of the community, not just a store.I went to the food counter first and ordered one of their combos—fried chicken with mac and cheese and a free drink. Y’all… when I tell you that food was seasoned to perfection, I mean it. You could tell they cook with love. The plate was fresh, hot, and generous with portions. While waiting, I walked around and was impressed with how much they offer. Fresh meat in the back, cold beers, snacks, pantry goods, even lottery tickets and check cashing! I ended up getting way more than I came for. And the prices? Very fair—especially considering the quality.
Before I left, the cashier greeted me with a smile and said, “Come back anytime, we got you.” That personal touch stuck with me. And now I do come back—every week. I’ve brought friends, told neighbors, and posted on social media because this store deserves all the love.
