I’ve been a loyal customer of Micro Center for years, but my recent experience at the Paterson, NJ location has been beyond disappointing. I purchased a motherboard as part of a bundle deal two years ago and even paid for a two-year warranty to ensure peace of mind. Unfortunately, the motherboard turned out to be defective, and when I tried to use the warranty before it expired, I was met with nothing but resistance.
I’ve now visited this location THREE times, traveling over 30 minutes each way, only to be told repeatedly that nothing could be done. The general manager was incredibly rude and dismissive, treating me like I was at fault for their failure to honor the warranty. He didn’t even let me fully explain my situation and made insulting remarks, laughing about losing me as a customer instead of trying to fix the issue. Over email, they act apologetic, but in person, it’s a completely different story.
Even worse, the store offered me a credit of only $81.91 for a motherboard that was worth $250 at the time of purchase and still holds significant value today. Micro Center doesn’t even sell an equivalent replacement for less than $200. This offer is unacceptable, and it feels like a bait-and-switch tactic—happy to sell a warranty but unwilling to honor it when a claim is made.
The cashiers and staff also need training in customer service. At a time when I needed assistance, they were argumentative instead of helpful. I expected better from Micro Center, but this experience has shown me they don’t value their customers once a sale is complete.
I’ll never shop at Micro Center again, and I won’t recommend this store to anyone. Save yourself the frustration and shop elsewhere—this company clearly doesn’t stand by its warranties or its customers.
