Michaels is classified as an arts and crafts emporium, which it is. But, it is a great place to have things framed. That means diplomas, posters, certificates, awards, or rare photos. Over the years, I have had items of every size framed at Michaels and I have never been disappointed.
The framers are located at the back of the store, and there is plenty of room to lay out your project and speak to a framer about what you are thinking, and to get ideas. Framing takes an artist's eye. I recently won an award certificate from my university, which was an electronic document, which I printed out high quality on my inkjet printer. I felt that it was important beyond its appearance, and so I asked the framer. Over the years, they have impressed on me the importance of matting to get a great look. This document had two bright colors in red and black. My idea was for the frame to capture those colors. The Michaels framer did that with a think red matting around the award and a white mat over it. He chose a black frame with some depth to it, and the project looks fantastic. All the paper materials used are archival quality, so you can be assured that they won't yellow. Framing is not inexpensive, but for anything that matters to you it it is the only way to go. For convenience and the best treatment of your project, Michaels is my go to.
