Lowes, please don’t place non-communicative employees in customer-facing positions! My husband and I went to have some deck stain prepared. As we walked by the paint department desk, I saw an employee standing there. I heard the announcement made for an employee meeting. OK—we will pick out the base and study the color samples against our sample we brought in while that is taking place. After we selected our color, we went back to the desk and pressed the customer assistance button. After about 5 minutes that employee came. “Hello”, I said smiling. Instead, I was faced with a blank almost bothered stare as I stared back at the many piercings covering her entire mouth. (This isn’t going to go well, I thought to myself) She shut off the button with an annoyed look. OK—she isn’t going to speak so we in turn stated what color we wanted. Without clarifying, she turned to the machine and punched in a few things and mixed up the stain. After mixing, it was placed with a WHAP! on to the table. I could see right away it wasn’t the color we requested. We received another annoyed look. My husband walked her back to the samples and showed her what we wanted. After mixing the second time, there still wasn’t any communication—"sorry about that”, “is there anything else you need?”—nothing. While I was seething by this point in another aisle while my husband was looking for other items, we were approached by other very helpful employees asking if we needed assistance. They were doing their job! Please have these employees mentor the younger ones. Putting in more effort than we received as customers, can lead to management and other higher paying positions! Lowes management--Hopefully these types of things will be covered in your next meeting. 😉
