The nicest people work and shop here. I can’t praise the dog friendly environment enough. I have a true-rescue… starving puppy showed up at my house and I kept him.
Well, he’s scared of everything and he’s reactive. Which means, he sometimes barks at people or acts like he can lunge on the leash.
I train him in every given opportunity and he’s always under control, but I know it freaks some people out.
We’re antisocial loners in our household so he doesn’t get much socializing… lately we’ve needed products from Lowe’s and I’ve decided to bring him inside for some XP (experience points).
So far, despite his little mistakes (he sure does try to be good) everyone has been SO kind and tolerant about it… a few employees even mentioned to me that they understood, having worked at shelters themselves.
Other customers have been kind and tolerant as well, which is always a welcome relief. I have to protect him from any idiots who don’t understand the difference between reactivity and aggression.
To the ignorant out there, dogs deserve their personal space just like people. Please have some respect: do not reach out to touch someone’s pet without asking the owner if the pet will even let you do so safely. My dog, will not allow it. He’s doing his job and protecting his family, which he’s so grateful he found. He does not want you reaching for him/us. That is understandable.
Hell, if you were to reach out to touch ME, personally, you risk getting your hand slapped or fingers broken, depending on the context of how your reach is received by me. Please be more considerate to dogs, they are also conscious individuals.
I just wanted to express my gratitude for the dog-friendly policy and the staff at this location…
Dog parks are dangerous. They’re too busy and no one trains their dogs (at all) or respects leash laws (at all). My dog was actually attacked by 2 off-leash dogs there… their owner, a grown-ass oversized man-child in a tank top, only added to the frenzy with his own COMPLETE PANIC, further riling up his dogs. Thankfully his dogs were just giant stupid babies and my dog was merely perturbed and stressed. No harm done, but I will never take that chance again. That could have easily ended with cops and an cripplingly expensive emergency vet trip.
Lowe’s is moderate in stimulation for him, without the dangerous and disrespectful variables of off-leash dogs.
I’m very thankful to have this stop in our errands, along side Petco. Thank you Lowe’s and Staff for your welcoming invitation to leashed dogs and understanding tolerance for mine while he’s still young and learning.
