A map or hiking recommendations would have been helpful in the cabin. Another thing we wished were provided was driving instructions for reaching the property. There are not any signs right when you get off of the main road & Google Maps is not clear, so we drove aimlessly, reaching private property only to turn around & try a different option. It was frustrating, but we figured it out despite no one answering the phone number listed for the ranch during this time.The cabin itself is very basic. The bathroom does not have a door but only a curtain, so take that lack of privacy into consideration when booking.We opted to include to sauna as an add-on during our stay, and I cannot recommend this. For starters, towels are not provided for you when you book this, so plan to bring your own. We went to the sauna at 8pm when our reservation began, and it was not yet ready. Two young boys were getting it ready, tending to the fire & sweeping the sauna out while we waited in the cold & wind for ~5 minutes. When we did get into the sauna, the temperature gauge read 56 degrees. It did not reach 100 degrees (which is still below what I consider an acceptable temperature for a wood-burning sauna) until 30 minutes into our reservation time. There was a booking right after us at 9pm so we left at that time. After reaching out to Merlin, the only “solution” he offered was for us to return to sit in the sauna again at 10:15 pm after we had already showered & gotten ready for bed, so we declined. I followed up with him the following day requesting a partial refund of the $30 sauna fee & he simply didn’t respond. Customer service is very obviously not at the forefront of this man’s business operation. I most certainly cannot recommend the sauna add-on and would not stay here again myself.
