I placed an order for a dog cake from Take the Cake bakery which has settled shop inside this grocery store. Order was set for 8/10/24 for 11am pick up. Went to counter and none of the employees could locate my cake and counter employee reached out to another employee named Maria. Maria called baker Kayla on the phone and she stated she was on her way to the store. Store owner (I believe named Ali) walked over where they both stated they could give me a discount. I disagreed and said it was not sufficient enough as I've driven 2 hours round-trip to this location and it wasn't my fault baker didn't have it done. Owner agreed to deliver once cake was done and asked employee Maria to get my address, screenshot it and send it to him. They proceeded to ask me to wait for baker Kayla. Kayla arrived and stated she had wrote in her book, 3pm pick up. I showed her our text conversation where she agreed to the 11am pick up as I had also showed it to Owner and employee Maria. Baker not once apologized for her error and stated to hold tight and she would talk to the owner. A few minutes later, she comes back and states she doesn't have a car and can't deliver and I'd need to come back around 3pm to pick. I stated I wasn't going to add another 2 hours of round-trip all because of her error and that Owner had agreed to deliver. Kayla stated he was not going to deliver as it was too far. We both walked over to Owner where he backtracked his statements to me. He said, "it's Saturday, it's busy, I can't deliver." He said he could give me $20 discount on the cake for the gas. I told them both, not good enough! That doesn't give me almost 4 hours of my time back or the wear and tear on my car. After minutes of back and forth, Owner finally agreed to deliver. I asked for his number in case he got lost and to know when he was on his way. Instead of providing me with his number, he insisted on employee Maria give me hers. I apologized to Maria as he should NOT had put her on the spot like that! I asked Maria to text me when cake was done and Owner was on his way as baker Kayla could not be trusted. When Owner arrived at my home, my husband went outside and he was refusing to give him the cake and insisted I come outside. When I refused and told my husband to show him the receipt, he finally agreed and handed him the cake. My husband asked for my receipt back but Owner stated he needed it and was refusing to hand it back. My husband persisted and he finally handed it back. Needless to say, I do not recommend this store or baker/bakery Take the Cake. Both never apologized to me, their customer and were extremely rude and unprofessional!
