I went w my husband. We’re an interracial couple. Mexican & black. & I had the worst experience racially, as a black woman the micro aggressions not only noticiable but they were LOUD. No matter how hard I smiled at ppl nobody would even acknowledge me let alone smile, look at me or talk to me. They went out of their way to make me feel unwelcomed & less than. Everyone was mean mugging me HARD. Double takes & everything. I smiled back & held my head high even tho i was extremely hurt. Then we went to a street vendor outside thinking she had icees there & she only had coconut water & I still bought it. She was very rude. She laughed at me & looked at me crazy. I still bought the cocos & I still bought the pollo preparado in la Placita. I got in the car & I cried. The worst part was my kids were w me. They’re black & Mexican & they had their first encounter w racism at this place. I couldn’t help but cry in front of them in the car. It was horrible. It’s sad bc we love the pollo preparado my husband usually goes w no issues. We’ve been buying pollo preparado for weeks religiously & I finally came w him this time. -100000/10 do not recommend esp if you’re black.
