This is the first sneaker store I have been to where the business expects the customer to pay for its mistakes. I have been dealing in sneakers for over 15 years, buying, selling, and trading. Typically the market dictates the price of the sneakers, not the store itself. This was apparent when I brought in a pair of kicks which currently has a $300 - $350 market value. I asked for a straight across trade for another pair of shoes in the exact same price range. The kid working the counter said that he couldn't do the trade because the store was in almost $600 for the pair I was trying to trade for. I was told the only way a trade can done done was to put some cash on top of the pair I brought in, this was a reasonable request as I have been in many deals in which this was the case. Unfortunately the kid says they need an extra $300. Safe to say I was pretty shocked and exclaimed that a pair of those just sold on stockX for $325, he began to tell me that they need to make their money back on that pair and they couldn't let it go for anything less. Now, its their store and they can charge whatever price they want, but, this business model suggests that a year from now they will probably close up shop. Billings is not a very strong market for sneaker enthusiasts and collectors the community is almost non-existent, so for this store to go against the grain, and operate this way, is risky to say the least. The only reason I didn't give it a one star was the kid behind the counter, he was extremely nice and very helpful. The owner on the other hand was a bit cold never acknowledging me while they were attempting to "Legit check" my shoes. The market dictates the price. Hopefully I can do business with them in the future as I am an advocate for small businesses. Especially ones that deal with my favorite hobby.
