They have decent selection of liquor and and beer. I’ve never tried the food, but know it’s well regarded. Everyone behind the counter has been consistently great, too. Even when they’ve been slammed and clearly exhausted.
On the other hand, whomever their petit shelve stocker is killed any desire of mine to give them my business anymore. I’ve been in a dozen times before and was looking for a small bottle of Elisha Craig. It was 15 minutes before close, no other customers, and I was unaware customers are not allowed to *look* into (NOT ENTER) the doorless side/back room located next to the main registers, where a large selection of their pint sized bottles are kept. When said employee took notice, I was shouted at twice and then glared at throughout the process of the other 2 employees assisting me with knowing what alternatives were available, making another selection, checking out, and even walking out the door. Again, the other two employees were great, and the stocker was pleasant interacting with them - making it clear her malice was directed specifically at me.
Oddly enough, it was the most rude, hostile, and unnecessary experience I’ve had with anyone in this city (let alone within the service industry) since moving here 2-3 years ago, and all under 5 minutes time. I was pretty stunned in the moment, but in hindsight do regret not walking out then and there. I have no problem abiding a business’s rules, understand they may need to be wary of theft, and honestly have no clue if they have it posted or not to stay away from the proximity of that area (something else I wish I’d thought to do). I’ve glanced in there during previous visits, again, without crossing any thresholds, and without receiving warning not to - let alone being yelled at and then stared down.
They are usually open two hours later than the other option in town, which was nice, but in the future I’ll be making pointed efforts to schedule shopping trips accordingly and waste my drinking money at Wine Works instead.
