I was asked to leave a review regarding my recent experience.
On Monday, January 27th, I spoke with Bobby about a broken spin-welded fitting on my freshwater tank. Although I didn't have my trailer with me, I provided pictures for reference. Bobby mentioned that they could likely repair it as long as the tank itself wasn’t cracked. I informed him that I needed the trailer ready for a trip that Friday and that I also had work to do on it before then. I specifically asked if I could schedule the repair for a day when they had time to complete it. Bobby informed me that their plumbing technician wasn’t available that day but advised me to bring the trailer in first thing Tuesday morning.
By 4:30 PM on Tuesday, I called to check on the status, as they close at 5 PM, and was told that no one had even looked at it. This resulted in an entire wasted day where no work was done on their end, and I was unable to complete the work I needed to do.
On Wednesday at 10 AM, I received a text stating that they had decided not to attempt the repair, as they felt the tank was too old. Instead, they planned to quote me for a replacement tank. Knowing that a new tank couldn’t be sourced and installed the same day, I opted to handle the situation myself. Since I specialize in food-grade stainless steel fabrication, I chose to fabricate a new tank in stainless steel that same day.
When I arrived to pick up my trailer, I was handed a $209 bill for a "repair estimate." I haven't reviewed the paperwork yet, but from my perspective, all they did was take a brief look at the tank, which took no more than 30 seconds—after already delaying the inspection by a full day. This level of service was disappointing.
While Bobby seemed like a nice person, and it wasn’t him who presented the bill, Independent RV has lost me as a customer. Charging $209 for what I’d generously estimate as 15 minutes of total time spent is an unreasonable amount. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend their services based on this experience.
