I went to visit some friends in the town and decided to go to the museum Saturday morning. They opened at 10:00 am. The entrance was free and open to the public. There are lockers where you can put your belongings and walk freely around. The museum is quiet and big enough so walk around. There are different kinds of exhibitions. It was very entertaining.

Her forest paintings and scenes from Long Wind Farm (yeah! - the the "little guys" tomatoes farm) are stunning.

Our high school group was greeted by 3 well prepared tour guides. I appreciate the initial recognition that Dartmouth and the museum reside on unceded Abinaki land. This really allowed out students to find a level of necessary reverance for the experience. Thank you, Mary!

Art from different eras and continents. A good representation of indigenous art and artists with written explanations of why they create the way they do. The collection descriptions often included questions that engage the viewer instead of just a factual description of the piece....Read More

Free admission, excellent collection of art on display here. Enjoyed going for a stroll with my wife and a newborn baby. Peaceful and not crowded.

Excellent collection with thought-provoking curation. Some hidden treasures complement historically underrated artists. And, it's free!

Lovely small art museum with a collection that spans 3000 years. Only had an hour to spend and hope to return!

Smallish free college art museum in high ceiling rooms on two floors. The art that was on exhibition contained selections from most periods of art history but concentrated on contemporary art. There were no works from artists whose name you would recognize but you should still go. Take a date or your parents for an hour and get dinner around the corner.

Wonderful museum with very wonderful updated approaches to presenting works of other cultures with greater context than has traditionally been museum practice.

It’s such a gift that it’s free and has some extended hours beyond 5pm! Highly recommended.

Beautiful museum, inside and out, with fantastically curated exhibits. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Very clean with ample seating areas. The student intern exhibit was nicely done. Ancient artifacts, paintings, sculptures and more. Parking can be an issue, it is a hoppin college town, but worth trip.

Beautiful new space! Wonderful items on show with interesting and thought-provoking blurbs. I was particularly interested in the conversation around provenance. My parents needed wheelchairs, which were quickly provided.

We visited the museum last weekend to see the Cara Romero exhibit. This was our first visit to the Hood Museum of Art.
We were blown from start to finish. The building is gorgeous and impressive.
The staff we interacted with were all very welcoming and helpful. I asked about a gift shop but they do not have one. So, that staff member said they have stickers at the main desk for guests and just to ask. I did that and were got several stickers for keepsakes and to mail to our friend that told us about the Cara Romero exhibit.
We loved everything about the museum and we plan to return again. It's a lovely drive from where we live and this is a perfect day trip.
We are so thankful to have another museum on our growing list for our weekend getaways. Parking was easy and that's thanks to the museum for sharing parking information on the website.

The Hood is a beautifully curated
Museum. The Cara Romero exhibit is a moving presentation that reflects the vision of a talented
Photographer who captures the essence of what she sees.
The other collections are a harmonious mix that flow through the rooms which makes the visit enjoyable.

This is from an Assyrian place. It turns out this was in color! The Hood has a wonderful permanent collection - and you never know what the latest new things will be, sometimes local and sometimes from away and very interesting! Admission is free.
