Great stylists, you are treated like a friend, this is the best salon I have ever been to!
Okay the comment I made above was a couple of years ago. I maintained the same opinion until Tuesday, March 28. I made an appointment with my regular hairdresser, Paul, and I was running a bit late due to traffic and bad weather, so I called the salon to let them know I would be 10 or 15 minutes late (I had never been late for an appointment before) so the owner answered the phone and relayed my message to Paul, who in turn took the phone to tell me to get there as fast as I could because he was booked and didn't want his other clients to wait because of me. I said fine and I rushed there as fast as I could, with a 12 minute delay. When I got in the salon I immediately apologized and asked if there was still time, Paul said yes but that he couldn't do anything fancy with my hair; I asked him what he meant by that he said he can't curl my hair or anything fancy, I have naturally curly hair so he never had to curl it, the only thing he does is blow dry and flat iron, which he said would be okay. Again, I apologized and reminded him that I had never been late before and of course this one time I was he was very busy; I also joked about one time where I had to wait for him in front of the salon for over a half hour because he had forgotten the keys and no one else was there, which I took very gracefully. As soon as I said that, I could see the look on his face, and he proceeded to tell me that if I am going to be like that, I might as well leave, because he was dealing with his stepfather dying of Cancer. I told him I was joking and then I asked him if he really wanted me to leave and he threw whatever he had in his hands and told me he was done and stormed in the back room. The owner was sitting right there, so I asked him if someone could cut my hair after all, I came all the way from Birch Bay to Bellingham just for that, and he said he couldn't but maybe the following week. I was furious, I couldn't believe what had just happened, I was a regular customer, I spent a lot of money there, and there was not even an apology, they let me walk out, one older lady who works there asked me if I was alright and I said no, I was very angry by what happened and that I would never come back, I am not sure if she apologized for her coworker's attitude, but I just had to leave the place quickly, before I lost my temper. I wrote on their Facebook page to let them know how upset I was and still, no one has sent me an apology. I will never go back there, which is sad before I thought I found the perfect place for me, and I liked my hairdresser Paul, until that fateful day. I believe that if you are going through such hardship that you have to take it out on the people who are your bread and butter, then maybe you should stay home, and I think that's what Paul should do, or he is going to lose a lot of business.
