Best Mexican bakery in California—and not just for traditional pastries. Gusto Bread is a Mexican-influenced artisan bakery, not your average panadería. It’s a fusion that feels just right: thoughtful, balanced, and full of flavor. Let’s start with what makes it stand out: it’s not overly sweet....Read More

The best fluffiest pan dulce I've had in the States! The smell of their bakery in the morning is heaven, their conchas are bomb and their Nixtamal Queen is something out of this world, it's like a crunchy caramelized palmier combined with …

After hearing mention about Gusto for a while now, I'm glad to say I made my first visit today and already look forward to coming back. I tried a Mole Empanada and the Pan de Maiz while enjoying a Salted Tamarindo drink. Everything seemed …

I‘m German so I’m very picky with the type of bread I like (and let’s be honest, most „bread“ sold in the US is a disgrace to the original product). I came to Gusto today for the first time and purchased a great looking sourdough...Read More

Ordered the Nixtamal Queen and Jamon Roll. I really liked the former - crunchy and doughy, with savory corn masada in the middle. Definitely the star between the two. I enjoyed the jamon, however, not full of meat or flavor inside the pastry, so the...Read More

I had the doña for breakfast, and took a California loaf home. Both were delicious.

We didn’t intend on coming here, but it was an opportunity to try Gusto since there was barely any line on the Saturday morning. We dropped in and grabbed a few bites. Overall, the jamon pastry was really good. The surprising Dijon mustard hit very well...Read More

I love Gusto for enjoying a coffee and a pastry, plus a dorado loaf and a bag of crostini to take home. Everything is delicious and I really appreciate that they use reusable dishes for dine-in coffee orders, water cups, etc., rather than single-use disposables....Read More

The platonic ideal of a cafe. The decor, the food, the drinks… Every detail was labored over and it shows. Very homey feel - which checks out as the bakery started out of their home! Do yourselves a favor, read up on their “about” page...Read More

Went there today and bought a Doña, a California Loaf and a Field Loaf. All scrumptious. Staff were very welcoming and informative. Called later to check into whether the two breads I purchased are indeed vegan, and the staff member who answered was also professional...Read More

Gusto has been a staple in our house for many years. Ana and Arturo have created a community of people who love incredible baked goods and appreciate their creativity. I remember my first bite of Gusto bread at James Republic; the texture, taste and crust...Read More

Naturally leavened loaves that vanish quickly—set an alarm. The pan de coco is subtly sweet, and the seeded sourdough is a weekly staple. You can smell the bakery from half a block away. Staff is cheerful even during rush. Coffee’s solid too, so it’s a...Read More

Overpriced but if you need a place to meet-up, chill out then this could be a place. I bought a drip black coffee & pastry for $15. Seating inside has 4 tables & maybe 10 chairs, outdoor seating is a bit better with umbrellas.

We enjoy our visits to Gusto Bread. Breads and pastries are fresh and delicious. We always find something delicious to try. We wish Gusto would stay open a bit later as the close at 4pm. But Gusto Bread is definitely worth a visit.

Popped into Gusto Bread on 4th Street adorable little spot, definitely low-key vibes. The line wasn't long, but you could tell people were excited to be there. I had a ham-and-cheese croissant and one of those pastries from the Nixtamal …
