Worst experience at a Goodwill. I purchased a pair of shoes for my husband one day that turned out to be too big. I went back (13 days later) to return them, having never been worn, price sticker still on, and with my receipt in hand. I was informed that their return policy was 7 days. The cashier then told me, "I'm sorry the person who rung you up didn't tell you." To which I responded, " YOU were the one who rung me up, so YOU were the one who didn't tell me." Then she replied, "Well, it says it on the bottom of the receipt." I looked again, just to be sure, and sure enough it DID NOT state anywhere about the return policy. So I asked her to show me where that was printed. She looked it over and was like, "Uhh--well do you want to speak to a supervisor?" I said yes please. The supervisor came out and only said, "yep 7 days--you're WAY over that!" And I told her, "Where is your return policy? It should be printed on the receipt." She started looking around the store, and finally spotted a sign high up on the wall with a list of policies--that to my mind I would not have EVER noticed had it not been pointed out. So let's be honest--she had no clue where it was, so I don't know why a customer would be expected to know. I then asked her if she thought it was reasonable for a customer to have the search the walls at every store they shop at to find the return policy, and that MOST stores have it written on their receipt. She told me very condescendingly, "Yep, that is what I suggest you do." So now I'm out $13 plus tax and stuck with shoes that won't be used. I told her I would take the store credit (first policy listed on the sign), because I had planned to look for more items anyway, but she refused. So instead of making more money off of me (because I like to find items there and DIY fix them up), they lost a customer. It's a shame because I just moved back into the area, just bought a house and wanted to get a lot of project items there, but I guess they don't mind losing a customer. I have no problems with their return policy, but it should be clearly printed on the receipt (like every OTHER store in America) or at the least in BOLD at the cashier station. Guess I could donate the shoes and they can make twice the profit. Thanks Goodwill! Looks like I'm going to Savers and Salvation Army from now on.
