I took my girls to the Gem Studio as part of their Christmas gifts and we had an amazing time. They are 14, 18, and 20 and I would feel pretty safe saying they all had an excellent time. Our silversmith, Liv, was fantastic, personable and walked us through the process with ease. She gave us tips and ideas throughout the whole process. I appreciated the fact that before we did anything, we were given a rundown on the price breakdown so we would have a rough idea of what things would cost. Between the 4 of us, we each made a ring with a stone in it (stones are clearly priced on the back as you choose the-ours ranged from $25-56) and 3 "stacker rings" which were buy 2 get 1 free - total of 4 gem rings and 12 stackers and my total price was $510. Luckily I had a Black Friday discount for 30% off. So is it expensive, yes. Is it a fun, memorable experience, absolutely. Could you purchase a ring somewhere else for cheaper, probably. If there was anything I struggled with throughout the entire 3 hours process, I would say it was the tipping at the end. Liv was amazing, and a tip was absolutely deserved, but how much is appropriate? I just spent nearly $400 on rings, so do I tip 10%? 20% like at a restaurant? Or is it appropriate to tip a dollar amount per person in the group? I don't know! Besides that, I love being able to wear a memory that I now share with my daughters.
