The Tadeo Family has a wonderful history with Bernadette. I have three fantastic kids - Aidan, Dillon, and Cassy. Aidan began his piano journey with Bernadette when he was 6 years old in 2008. In 2010, Dillon joined that musical adventure with them when he was 5. Lastly, in 2014, Cassy was then added to the "Love of Piano"-Family! It really says a lot to know that we enrolled all three kids into Bernadette's awesome program!
I remember on the first day of orientation, Mrs. Ashby asked if my wife and I have ever played the piano before, to which I responded, "No. Sadly, I don't have a single musical bone in my body." ;-) I felt embarrassed when I said that out loud ("Geez! Did I really say that???"). Bernadette didn't even flinch, and she immediately replied that I didn't need to have a musical bone in my body.
Instead, she explained to to us that her piano lessons are nothing like that of the old traditional ways of learning piano (e.g. learning to read music FIRST and THEN start playing.) Her methodology for her lessons are the exact opposite - play the keys first, THEN read the music sheets later. It just made sense! Why start off at such a young age to have to painstakingly learn how to read music??? For kids (and adults alike!) the need to be fully immersed in it by actually playing it! It makes it sooooo much more fun that way! From that day on, there has never been a day that we thought that we made a wrong choice in picking Bernadette as our family piano teacher. And, yes, I said it - she's so close to my kids that I honestly do feel like she's a family member to us. And she is always open to having her piano family grow and expand!
My oldest son, Aidan, has moved on since he got admitted into college recently, living on campus, and he's been living quite a busy life. They grow up so fast! *sniff* But that's okay! The methodology and foundation that Bernadette instilled in his musicianship, he still plays! Nothing is forgotten, nothing is lost - his love for piano always remains. Cassy is still a current student with Mrs. Ashby, and she remains committed and is making progress!
Thanks to Mrs. Ashby, my middle son, Dillon, loves playing the piano and it shows! In fact, he is currently working under her as a tutor for her students. And I hear that he's been contributing his love, passion and knowledge to the students that he works with.
I just can't say enough about how Bernadette is such a great teacher and that her unique and unorthodox way of teaching can make such a great impact to every student who wants to learn how to play the piano - AND HAVING FUN AT THE SAME TIME.
Thank you for being a part of my family's journey, Bernadette!
