This is my first time using Dunwoody Photo. I was so excited to find a photo lab in town that could scan film that I had from college. I also wanted to get back into film photography so I was excited that they can also develop film for future projects. I came in the week before the 4th of July to drop off my negatives to have some negatives I had already developed, scanned in and have it digitally. The gentleman up front told me that it wouldn’t be ready until the week after the 4th because they were going to be close. I totally understood that. Well, the week after came and went, nothing from them. I let another week go by because I figured maybe they got behind, which they did. So a little past two weeks after they said it would be ready, I gave them a call to see if there was any update on where they were at in the process. They had me on hold for a while (red flag) I guess looking for my order… the woman on the phone got back on and she said she can get it done later that day or the next day. I told her okay no worries I get you guys are behind. I didn’t get the scans until three days later after when she said they would be done. (Another red flag) No biggy, right? Nah. I came in today to pick up my negatives after paying for the scans. They lost my negatives….when I tell you how mad I was that they lost my negatives, I’m surprised I kept my cool. The blonde lady up front was telling me she was sorry but her tone was dry and like she couldn’t care less. She took down my info in case they find the negatives but she tried to imply I said to discard the negatives. First of all, no one ever asked me if I wanted to discard the negatives. Secondly, why would you ever discard negatives right away? That’s the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Maybe because I’m passionate about my photos and like to keep everything…it just doesn’t make sense to just throw out someone’s hard work like that right away. I get their 90 day policy, but three days later? Y’all need to change that because it looks like your employees are getting trash happy. As a first time customer and professional photographer, this really upset me that this was my first experience with this business. There was no sympathy, just a bunch of excuses that they were slammed and “panicking” in the back. No compensation or even a discount for future projects to try and save themselves. They are so unorganized that it affects their customers. I highly recommend that they put together a better plan if they’re going to close for a week and come back to an overload of work. If you want anything from them, I guess don’t drop off the week before a holiday because clearly they cannot handle the workload and will lose your stuff. I can’t say enough how upset I am about losing those negatives because I wanted to get those scanned for years and that’s my art you threw out like it was nothing! I hope I can find another photo lab that can develop film because I really do not trust these people at all with any future projects. Besides all the negative things, the scans came out nicely.Update: So they found my negatives. Apparently they have a separate pile for pre-developed film, which I didn’t know was a thing to mention.. I’m glad they found it and called me immediately but I still have my concerns about using them in the future. I will definitely give them a second chance because things happen, but I stand by my earlier review that they need to be more organized about things, especially if they’re closing up shop for a week.
