Summary: Overall this is a nice place. Minus one star for less than amazing muffin and non-functioning steamer wand. It was worth the extra 10 minutes compared to stopping at Starbucks (total detour is about 20 minutes extra drive time) if you are driving from LA to SF or vice versa. If you are already in town - definitely go.
I stopped by on my way from LA to the Bay Area, based on the star rating and the fact that local places are more interesting than Starbucks.
First off - biggest positive is the pricing. It is insanely cheap. I mean - neighborhood bake sale cheap. All the baked items are about 1/3 the price you would expect in a big city. Crazy. Drink pricing is also lower than I would have expected, just less insanely so.
Service was friendly and helpful.
To the quality of the food & drinks - overall, it was decent, but not perfect. I had a scone, a cinnamon muffin, and an iced mocha. The mocha was quite good - I haven't had iced mochas in a while, but this was definitely a good one. Based on the menu, I'd say the iced drinks/frappes are the specialty, and I'd say you're probably pretty safe to order any of them and enjoy it quite a bit. The scone was also pretty good. Nice texture and flavor. Enjoyed it. The muffin was very crumbly and on the dry side - I was driving and it wasn't worth my time to figure out how to eat it without getting it all over everything. Taste was fine (ignoring the 'slightly dry' aspect).
I had wanted to get a Gibraltar/Cortado/Flat white. Barista was nice, but didn't know exactly how to do that (not on the menu). We settled on a 6 oz latte, which would have been fine, but the frothing nozzle was broken, so I ended up going with the ice mocha instead.
