I am deeply disappointed with the service we received at Del Ray Optometry. Initially, we were told that our glasses would take two weeks, but the process dragged on for nearly two months. We were left in the dark, having to call after two weeks to check on the status, only to be told after three weeks that my husband's frames had broken at their lab. Which seem crazy as they are ballistic frames that just needed the lenses replaced. Instead of taking responsibility, they claimed he had signed a waiver to initial cover their butts. The waiver was irrelevant to the lab's fault. At first we tried to be understanding that things happen and I said I'd be happy to wait a week to see what the "Practice Manager" could do to find a solution. I did not receive a call at the end of the week and had to call to check in both that Friday and the following Monday.
My frames eventually took another week, totaling four weeks, and it required multiple calls from us to get any updates as well. The lack of communication was frustrating. Even when we finally picked up our glasses, there was no apology for the extended delay, nor any acknowledgment of their lab breaking the frames. In fact the point person we worked with lied to my husband and said he didn't call me back only one time. Not true.
The whole experience was poorly handled. We were initially hopeful to find a regular optometrist, but this incident has completely put us off. The exam itself was unimpressive; the equipment was not cleaned before use, and the office appeared dingy in several areas. While we were willing to overlook these issues, their failure to communicate and take responsibility was too much.
To make matters worse, we now can't use our insurance benefits for another year, and my husband is stuck with sunglasses that don't fit properly. We had to push hard to ensure the broken frames were replaced, which should never have been our burden. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend Del Ray Optometry to anyone.
