My wife and I brought our baby girl and two dogs, and spent a better part of a week at this most magnificent property. Cody Canyon Ranch was unlike anything I have experienced in a very long time. For once, I don’t feel like I need a vacation after a vacation. I actually feel recharged.
First, the house is very charming and clean. It’s nice, but not so nice that you feel uncomfortable. Brian and Co. and have set up the house for enjoyment of guests, and you honestly feel good about kicking up your feet after a long day and just chilling out. There is ample seating space inside, and exterior seating on the covered patio/ porch areas surrounding the house. The house is stocked fully with cooking and dining equipment/ utensils, and there is a great Keurig coffee maker as well. Besides bringing your own food, you really don’t need anything else. There is also WiFi and a Lanline to use, but honestly don’t be silly using electronics there. It’s all about enjoy what is natural in life. Unplug and relax. The bedding is extremely soft and nice. It’s 2 bedrooms with one very large bathroom and shower. Plenty of space.
Next, the property itself. My goodness... acres and acres of tranquility. That’s the best word for it. I am a city-dweller and always in loud courthouses for work, so I was craving some peace and quiet. That’s what this place will give you. I would joke with my wife that “the silence is deafening here.” You can hear birds, the ranch animals, and wild animals all peacefully making mild noises. It’s very relaxing. There are plenty of places to walk through, as the ranch has a lot of acreage.
The staff was so sweet and accommodating. Brian was always just a text message or call away, and he was so polite and attentive. Mark was so kind and he always tried to involve us in the property and during feed- time with the animals, and he has a great sense of humor. Kim is an absolute sweetheart and her love for the animals is very honorable and genuine. Mike was a very cool guy, and he seemed to know a good deal about the property and area. Overall everyone was super nice and accommodating. They were there whenever we needed them, but would never “bother” anyone when they weren’t needed. A very nice balance.
Recommendations: I would stay here for at least 4-5 nights minimum. If you are always busy like I am, it will rose you a day or two to begin to unplug and relax. Then you can really enjoy and relax during your vacation. Also, make sure you spend one day minimum driving to Sequoia National Forest, and another day visiting King’s Canyon. Both deserve at least one day each. They are about ~ 1 hour away from Cody Canyon. Food-wise, make sure you stock up on food and wine before coming in. It’s always fun to munch on food, and there are not too many options nearby. I like that because it makes the ranch a destination as opposed to just somewhere one sleeps. Come well-stocked (I would err on getting more food than not), bring some tennis shoes, unplug from the unnatural world we live in, and you will immensely enjoy Cody Canyon.
Thank you Brian!!
