Warning: STOP! FALSE ADVERTISING. Do not shop at Auffenberg. I would give a zero if it were an option. I saw a vehicle advertised online. I called to inquire if the vehicle was still in available, spoke with Audrey, who took my name telephone number and told me that the vehicle was available and would be at this particular location. The appointment was set for 6 o’clock. When my husband and I arrived, we were told that our appointment was with a sales rep by the name of Mike. Mike was not there, we waited 17 minutes before he arrived. Meanwhile, we looked around the lot for the vehicle and could not find it. We went inside and asked another sales associate about the vehicle and he went into an office and came back out and said we’d have to talk with Mike….so we waited. Once Mike arrived, he asked what were we looking to do today? He said he had no information about the appointment only that it was scheduled for 6 pm and that we wanted to take a test drive.?
I told him that I didn’t see the vehicle on the lot. He typed something in the computer and said that it was ‘here.’ I showed him the picture of the vehicle that we came to see and again he said, “It’s here. Give me a second, I’ll get the keys and pull it up for you.” He returned with the same model vehicle however, it WAS NOT the one that was advertised online. The one that he brought for us to test drive was a different color, had high mileage and contained visible cosmetic issues. When we told him that was not the car, he said, that’s the only one he had, and that the vehicle that we were looking for was probably at Auffenberg North location in O’Fallon, but yet he wasn’t sure about the directions for getting there. At that point my husband and I were ready to leave. On our way out, we ran into the finance manager, told him about the car we were looking for, and he said all he needed was the stock number to verify the vehicles location (which is what Mike should have done.) Mike was nonchalant and his customer service was lousy. When I told the finance manager that we felt like they were pulling “bait-and-switch” trick, he simply said “OK” and walked away. My husband and I were astounded and very upset to say the least. This experience was disturbing and totally unacceptable. We will NOT be purchasing a vehicle from any Auffenberg establishment. Prospective buyers BEWARE!!
