I used to be a regular at Ashor Fade, but after my last visit, I won’t be going back. The barber named Sargon’s ego has clearly gotten the best of him. Instead of the friendly, welcoming environment I appreciated in the first two visits, I encountered rudeness and disrespect, but since I don’t frequently change barber shops, I continued to go there despite I started noticing Sargon began to hurry through the haircut for past few visits especially when he totally messed up my beard once I gave a try to reshape my beard. He was even upset later that I didn’t offer him to cut my beard after that encounter.
The situation started getting worse in the month of October when I had a presentation for my work and I decided to have a hair cut, since this barbershop doesn’t offer an appointment booking option and operates on a walk-in basis, there were a few customers waiting for Sargon. I asked to go with whichever barber was available, as a customer I’m not aware of the internal politics going on at that barbershop; I simply didn’t want to wait and needed to get back to work quickly and I was in a break. As a professor my students were waiting for the next lecture and I have to return back. I finished with my haircut and left without any issues.
Yesterday on Nov 30 when I visited there I found that Sargon was available and there was a waiting of one customer. So I decided to wait. He continued to insist me that he doesn’t want to do my haircut, I thought he was just making a fun but he still insisted because I went to a different barber in the same shop. Are you serious? A customer comes there without knowing anything we just need a haircut we don’t have a written contract with you that we have to be with one specific barber, particularly since our time is limited and if you are busy with one customer we would like to go with another barber who is available. After he finished with the other customer he told me he is doing this for the last time and next time I should NOT come back. He started treating me as if he is talking to one of his kids “you know what’s the problem right” in front of all customers he continued to be rude. I still thought that he is trying to joke around.
The moment he began the haircut, it felt like he was keeping an eye on a clock, eager to wrap things up quickly.
After I finished with haircut I went to the barber working next to him and asked him whether Sargon is really pissed off that I had a haircut last time with your friend. He said I don’t know it seems to be like that.
After payment I again went to him to make sure everything is clear and I tried to make him understand that sometimes there is a time crunch and as a customer I don’t know whether you guys have such internal conflicts between each other but he continued to say that “ I don’t want my customers to cheat me by going to someone else”, and man come on, this guys is too much arrogant and uncivilized. He doesn’t have etiquettes to speak to customers if they are not his regular clients.
The atmosphere was uncomfortable, with a palpable sense of arrogance in the air. His snide comments and lack of respect made me feel unwelcome and undervalued. It’s disheartening to see someone who once provided decent service turn into someone who treats clients poorly.
I think this haircut business will decline soon due to that one barber Sargon who engages in excessive internal politics.
I left not only dissatisfied with my haircut but also feeling disrespected. What about my presentation then? I came home and used a hair thinning scissor to texturize and I feel that I can do better than him for reshaping rather than paying him and buying an attitude.
It’s clear that this barber has lost sight of what it means to provide good service. I can’t recommend Ashor Fade to anyone looking for a respectful and professional experience. Save your time and money and find a barber who truly values their customers!
