Solid spot for brunch and pastries.
Was looking for a non-touristy lunch spot in town, and this place seemed like the most decent option. The menu was a mix of pastries, cookies, and some popular brunch staples like avocado toast and sandwiches.
We opted for their most popular obligatory avocado toast, croque monsieur, and a blue corn cookie. Avocado toast was the most colorful avocado toast I’ve ever had. Edible flowers made for a great visual, but didn’t add anything in terms of flavor or aroma. 99% aesthetic. Flavor-wise, not drastically different from the usual, though the bright, subtly sweet acidity from the kumquat was a nice touch.
Croque Monsieur was a solid execution, but low-key wished it came in croissant form instead of sourdough. The ham was a bit cold, but everything else was well-made and satisfying. Blue Corn Cookie kind of felt like a sweetened cornbread in cookie form. We did get a subtle corn flavor from the powder, but overall it leaned too sweet and didn’t bring much uniqueness.
For drinks, I had the watermelon mint matcha, which unfortunately was a complete miss. If you’re calling it a matcha, it probably shouldn’t just be a thin layer of foam on top of watermelon juice. Since the layers didn’t mix well, it just tasted like a mildly minty watermelon juice. Refreshing, sure but not for that price.
