I called and managed to get a same day appointment. It was later in the day, but I wanted to get a haircut on veterans day. I came in with a full bushy beard and asked them to shave my head and trim up my beard. I got sat with a woman I cannot remember the name of. I explained that I just wanted the beard to be trimmed up. Cut the line straight at my ear hole and just fade the beard to that point. I did not want a lot of length taken off, just enough to shape my beard up and even any parts that were uneven. I must also mention that without my glasses I can only vaguely make out shapes. Otherwise, anything past a foot from my face is just a blob of color. I take my glasses off and sit back in the chair. I keep perfectly still as to make sure she makes no mistakes. She then proceeds to shave my beard almost to the skin. Taking a beard with 6 inches of length and shortening it to less than 3 inches on my chin and short enough on my cheeks that I can barely pinch the hair. When she was done with ny beard I was frustrated as hell. My cheeks look uneven and when I protested the 'trim' she said that it's what I asked for since I wanted it faded in. If this is a fade, I must have never had one. It's short, like mentioned above, clear down to almost my jawline. She then tells me it's what all the other customers want when they request a trim. I specifically asked that it just be a trim. This was outrageous. I figured I was already sat and my beard was already messed up, I would let them finish shaving my head and just not come back. I normally bic my head smooth in the shower in less than ten minutes. After wrapping my head in hot towels three times, this woman proceeded to absolutely shave me RAW by going over my scalp at least ten times with her straight razor. If she needed that many passes, she needs a new razor or line of work. I have been shaving my head for nearly two years. I am no tender-headed man. She did half the shave while my head felt like it was dry. It hurts and is throbbing as i type this in my car. I am pretty sure she cut me at least twice, but I couldn't see, just felt the razor bite me. I haven't cut my own head shaving in over six months. I get it happens, but I was sitting as still as I possibly could and moved when she needed me to move. Yet she still cut me. And it wasn't even a close shave to boot. I am absolutely floored at how bad this experience was. I cant believe that this woman actively cuts people's hair and shaves their skin. It was 65 dollars for the shave and 'trim'. Almost TWICE what my normal barber charges for the same service. I would not have had issue with the price gad the services been acceptable. I will not be back and I am going to actively steer anyone i know looking for a barber away from this shop. TL:DR - this barber shop was an awful experience and I won't be back. I would suggest finding a different barber shop if you care about your beard, scalp, and don't want to be gaslit about what you 'want' Edit 1: in response to the owners reply to my review. I have had time to calm down, but I am still incredibly dissatisfied with the service provided. my head still hurts to touch. I attached pictures to the review so that everyone can see the cuts and nicks that they can expect from a head shave from this shop. My beard is uneven, as well as cut incredibly short. I came into the shop with a full beard and left with a mangled one. The undercut on my beard was far too much as well. Nicking me several times in the process. I have not been sent by anyone. I relied on the positive reviews as well as the fact you were all open on veterans day. My normal barber was closed today, so I put my faith in this shop and was woefully let down. I just wanted a nice experience to make my day a little better and now I'm left with this mess to deal with. And just so you know, expensive oils and supplies mean nothing when your employees do poor work. A&D Barber Shop is the best barber shop around! Arguably, the best barbershop you’ll ever visit. I would like to start by addressing that it’s not universally understood that there is a difference between a ‘haircut’ and a genuine ‘barbershop experience’. I’m leaving this one to help people understand exactly what they can expect from A&D Barbers and how to have the best overall experience (so please keep reading). Similar to vehicles, clothing, home builders, most things we purchase, not every barbershop, barber and/or place where you can get your hair cut are created equal. A&D Barbershop is a high-quality establishment that provides an exceptional service. The barbers here are masters of their craft. Are they perfect 100% of the time? No, but no one is. I have personally been coming here for years and have nothing but good things to say. The people and experience are incredible. For a long time, I would get a buzz cut and a beard trim. With the right tools and a couple of mirrors, I could have done it myself but it wouldn’t have been close to the same quality. In addition, I truly enjoy and look forward the conversation and atmosphere while I’m there. Can you get a cheaper haircut somewhere else? Sure. They are more expensive than other places that can also ‘cut your hair’. However, I’m confident in saying that it won’t be close to the same level of quality or experience. From the hot towels, to the straight-razor shave and shoulder massage at the end.. this place is one of a kind! If you simply take the time to engage in conversation with your barber, they will ultimately treat you like family. Here is a true story to illustrate that.. one time, I had randomly scheduled an appointment on my birthday and when I walked in, the owners stopped what they were doing and sang Happy Birthday to me.. I almost always schedule Thursday evening appointments, not thinking about this one falling on that particular day and I definitely didn’t tell them it was my birthday - I’m one that prefers people not know.. They happened to see it on Facebook and made it a point to acknowledge it. Most don’t even get that from their own place of employment.. Over time, they all learn and address you by name, even if you’ve never sat in their chair. The barbers here are truly wonderful people and are great at what they do! I have had the pleasure of sitting in most of the chairs with the majority of barbers and if you explain exactly what you want or at least show them a picture for reference, I’m confident that you’ll get exactly that. HOW TO HAVE THE BEST EXPERIENCE: They do take walk-in’s but they tend to stay busy with appointments, so it is best to make an appointment, especially if you want a particular barber. However, if you forget to make an appointment ahead of time, they do provide the ability to “Join the Waitlist” before you leave your house or the office! If you are walking in, that’s perfectly fine, you just sign in on the tablet device that’s right inside the door. They have a screen that viewable from the waiting area that shows you your position in line! Before you read one or two negative reviews and write them off, read all of the others that truly appreciate the skill level and experience you receive here. If you happen to have a bad experience, ask to speak with the owner, Alex, explain what happened and he’ll make it right with you. They all want you to come back! One last thing.. if you tip a server at a restaurant when they’re with you for maybe 5 minutes during a meal, do the same for person that spends 20-60 minutes with you, helping you with your every day appearance and providing a truly exceptional service! A&D has been my go to since January of 2024. Always great work regardless if you schedule a usual barber or come as a walk in. Always been greatly satisfied with the care, friendliness, and work all the staff puts in. Definitely recommend getting your haircuts done right here. You pay for professional cuts. I can confidently say this is the best barbershop in Dayton. HIGHLY RECOMMEND The shop is extremely clean and presentable. Alex the owner is the barber that cuts my hair. He starts with a hot towel and discusses what type of haircut I want. Once we agree, he gets to work. I get a mid skin fade with a rounded back. The haircut is well done and there is no lack of attention to detail. He understands the texture of my hair and how to shape it to my face. He ends the haircut with a hot towel, wipes the hair off your face, ears, neck, puts product in your hair, AND gives a back massage. I get many compliments from people I work with and have referred several of my friends to the shop. Alex specifically. I started to take my 1 year old for father and son haircuts. They do such a great job. They take walk ins instead of turning people away, which is unheard of to me. I come from a busy city and state, so I’m used to seeing walk ins be turned away. Best Barber Shop in Dayton! I have been going to A and D Barber Shop for over 3 years and I will never go anywhere else. I have had 6 of the A and D barbers over that time and have never gotten a bad haircut. All barbers are very detailed and take their time to do the job right. I always leave satisfied with my haircut but also know that if I wasn’t satisfied, they would take the time to make sure I was. I was a customer for a little over 5 years and it was the best service I have gotten. I was often complimented and asked where I got it. I would recommend them Asiya since she did my hair 98% of the time but honestly all of them are exceptional. They are all skilled and never disappoint. Hope to find a barbershop just like this one. I have been going to this barber shop for about 3 years. It is the best barber shop in the area and the staff is friendly and professional. I typically go to Elmira for my haircut but I’ve had other barbers in this shop cut my hair and they all do a good job. I also take my 4 year old here to get his haircut and they are great with kids. I won’t go anywhere else to get a haircut, and I would recommend making an appointment because it is a busy shop.

I took my 1-year-old son to see Elmira, and I am beyond impressed! As you can imagine, cutting a toddler’s hair can be tricky, but Elmira was patient, gentle, and made my son feel completely at ease. Clean shop. But depends on who you cut with, mu barber Elmira didn’t care at all about my needs. Scheduled a haircut with a 30-minute block and needed a basic fade cut, was asked if I liked the cut at the end I told Elmira just fade a little more Elmira got so offended and kept speaking in a very rude tone saying she is busy even though the whole cut lasted 10 minutes.
