My family hired young construction last summer to replace a few windows, a patio door, and do some siding at my dad’s house. My father just had heart surgery so I met with Zeke from young construction out of the Mason City area. I explained to him exactly what we were looking for and a timeline we needed. He told me everything I wanted to hear so I hired him. He assured me that my dad’s house would be done before the end of August 2023. Even offered to do work for us on the side (which is against company policy)
I messaged him the middle of August to see when they were going to start after he assured me it would be done by the end of the month. He said it would be done before Labor Day weekend in September. September rolls in and we get a phone call about someone coming to measure the door and windows. Zeke was over 3 times before hand but apparently did not even measure anything. We were under the impression he ordered everything since he told us the job would be done by Labor Day. October comes around, I messaged Zeke asked for an update. He replied with “waiting on siding”. I called the company and the siding was actually already there. He lied to us.
November comes around and we were assured that they work year round regardless of the weather. They still didn’t start working on the house. After messaging Zeke about what we originally discussed and how upset we were getting, he was very unprofessional. Rude. Denied agreeing to anything even though we have the messages to prove it. He called the people we spoke to at his company liars.
December 1, 2023 is when they started working on the house. FINALLY! They ordered the wrong patio door. Opened the opposite direction and the lock does no work. They promised they would make it right (still to this day April 24, 2024 have not done that). They did not do the job correctly. We had someone who is knowledgeable about doing construction come take a look at the work, he apologized for the lousy job that we received. He pointed out everything wrong and what young construction should have done. It’s such a lousy job that the siding is already coming off and it hasn’t been 6 months yet. The job hasn’t even been finished. This guy made sure he was there when the company sent out a guy to speak to us. The man from the company was so unprofessional that he was yelling.
My brother has been blocked from the Facebook page due to writing a review. The house still is not done or fixed, it’s been almost a year since we signed the contract. We spend $34,000 to receive poor quality work, to get ignored, blocked, lied too, and the wrong door/without a lock.
I do NOT recommend this company. I cannot speak for the other young construction companies but the one by Mason City/Minnesota I highly DO NOT RECOMMEND
