This review is dedicated to hairstylist Ann. Having just moved to the area from Orlando, one of my biggest anxieties was finding a new hairstylist. As a woman with short hair who tends to dress on the more masculine side, I’m no stranger to the judgment that can come from different corners, especially in the service industry. So, booking an appointment with a new stylist I knew nothing about was nerve-wracking. From the moment I met Ann, though, much of my worry melted away. She greeted me with a friendly demeanor that instantly put me at ease. She led me to her station and asked detailed questions about the style I wanted—a reassuring sign, especially since this was our first session. In my experience, salons like Ulta often cater to a demographic of women with longer hair, so I was pleasantly surprised by how thoroughly Ann engaged in understanding my style. She took her time, carefully selecting clipper options and trimming the top, ensuring she met exactly what we discussed. The entire interaction was nothing short of pleasant, and we connected over various topics, finding many similarities in our life stories. By the end of the session, I not only got the exact cut I asked for, but Ann also showed me a new way to style my hair that has turned out to be a game-changer. What started as a “try it and see” suggestion has now become my go-to style—it’s so much easier and makes me feel more professional. I don’t know how she managed to give me such a phenomenal cut in just 30 minutes, but she did. I loved my stylist back in Orlando, but Ann truly exceeded my expectations. Her care, attention to detail, and friendly personality made for an exceptional experience. I’m 100% committed to staying with Ann as long as she’s doing hair. Ulta, please recognize Ann for her impact—not only as a fantastic stylist but also for upholding quality principles of inclusion and creating such a welcoming environment. There aren’t enough words to express my gratitude for turning what could have been a stressful experience into a breath of fresh air. Thank you, Ann!
