Was meeting an artist around 8pm.
I was outside a few minutes early as I had walked from the bus stop. Outside was a gentleman in a car. I had my headphones on. I usually do not talk to people while I am out because I unfortunately attract a lot of unwanted attention from a lot of people do to my "gender" and "figure". I had already gotten plenty of "undavory" comments on my trip there and didn't really feel like talking to anyone at all.
He said hello to me I acknowledged him but didn't say anything. I was texting the artist that I was here he continued to try to talk to me asking me if I was lost and I had said no, I'm good. I then fixed my headphones back on and proceeded inside, I could hear him still trying to talk to me. I get inside, meet with my artist, and the gentleman comes inside. He asks the artist if I was his 'client'.
I was then werated by the gentleman saying that he is the owner and that I was being "Hella rude". I did try to apologize and explain that I do not normally talk to people and for the above reasons stated. He was raising his voice at me and still claiming I was rude and disrespectful. I apologize once again and he walked away for a moment. I told the artist I'll come back another time if that's easier, because the owner would not accept my apology. I stepped outside with the artist and agreed to meet another time. I could see a lot of the people in the shop learing at me from inside the window. As I walked away I looked behind me briefly and saw the artist being talked to by the owner. I felt bad because to be rude was not my intention, and even though I calmly tried to explain and apologize I was still berated and yelled at.
Not everyone is friendly with people, not everybody can talk to people. Everybody has a different level of socialization skills apparently mine were not up to par for the owner. I hope my artist doesn't get in trouble on my behalf. He was nothing but respectful from minute one so.
I do hope the owner reflects on this encounter.
