We stayed as a couple at Thann Wellness Resort from 25–27 Sep, and the experience was so enjoyable we honestly didn’t want to leave 😅. The only regret was visiting during high water levels, which meant we couldn’t try the water bikes.
Tips:
•Bring insect repellent; there are lots of mosquitos, though the resort provides patches and an electric swat in the room.
•No need to pack much clothing as robes and pants are provided and can be worn throughout the resort.
•You won’t get bored—there are activities and amenities all day.
•The minibar is refilled daily with housekeeping.
•Our package included unlimited food and drinks, but portions were so generous that one serving per meal was more than enough.
Day 1:
We arranged pickup from our hotel, and the attentive driver made the hour-long ride comfortable. Check-in was smooth; we were welcomed with corn milk and asked to choose our room scent by Matt, who also gave us a tour.
At the restaurant, the servers were warm, though their English was limited—patience helps. Afternoon tea was delicious, and I loved their signature No. 1 tea. Afterwards, we joined a facial workshop with Dream, who was patient and helpful. Back in our room, we noticed it was a little dim but cozy once we opened the curtains.
Dinner began with rose sparkling water, mushroom soup, beef cubes, and diced fried prawn. For mains, we had lobster ravioli and pork chop steak, followed by vanilla ice cream. The staff surprised me with a birthday cake my husband had arranged—such a sweet gesture. Later, we enjoyed massages, where Dream introduced us to different oils. I chose aromatherapy, which was relaxing. Our bed was comfortable, though the pillows were too soft, and we had to swat away several mosquitos.
Day 2:
We began with yoga led by Yee, a fun mix of stretching and balancing. Breakfast included salad, tofu, and croissants, with unagi rice in dashi soup and a scotch egg with salad as mains. The croissant was so good I had a second serving.
We spent the morning trying the salt room, onsen, and aromatherapy steam spa. Remember to bring swimwear—these are accessed through the massage area toilets.
Lunch starters included spring rolls and prawn salad, followed by fettuccine with Northern Thai sausage and Pad Thai with grilled prawn. Dessert was coconut milk with cake, though too sweet for my taste.
Later, we joined another facial workshop with Dream, had a body analysis at the gym, and even played some ping pong. The Thai massage that followed was excellent—better than the oil massage from the previous night. Though we missed the aqua exercise session, we enjoyed a sunset swim at the pool before dinner.
Dinner featured tomato soup, fish roe with minced meat, and mains of black ink pasta with lobster and Australian beef salad—both outstanding. We added seabass to share, but it wasn’t as memorable. Dessert was matcha ice cream with sponge cake.
Day 3:
We skipped activities for a late breakfast of salad, fried tofu, croque monsieur, and scrambled egg croissant. Afterwards, we explored the resort further, visiting the peacock enclosure and chicken and duck farm. A friendly farmer showed us freshly laid eggs in the chicken coop, which was a charming surprise. We also tried archery near the pavilion.
What stood out was the warmth of the staff—gardeners, drivers, and housekeepers all greeted us with genuine smiles, making the resort feel even more welcoming.
Lunch starters included Thai sausage and prawns with tomyum pomelo. For mains, we enjoyed spicy fried rice with soft-shell crab (requested less spicy and it was perfect), shiitake mushroom soup (comforting), and fettuccine with scallops (too rich after a few bites). Dessert was honeycomb biscuit and coconut sago—again, a bit sweet.
Checkout was seamless, and our transfer to the airport in a spacious 6-seater van was so comfortable we both dozed off.
Special thanks to Dream for the facial workshops and spa, Matt for the warm welcome, Yee for yoga, and Lee, Gon, and the servers for their attentive dining service.
