Tara Haunted Tours in Savannah

We had such a great time. I loved walking and hearing the history. Our tour guide was Lyssa and she was amazing. She was such a great story teller. We did the pub crawl and stopped at 3 pubs in 2 hours. The sangria at 1790 was delicious, would highly recommend. Our favorite stop was Moon River where I actually saw paranormal activity. The door to the basement moved open for us as we were walking downstairs, so spooky! We had so much fun and I loved how Lyssa was willing to answer any questions we had. Overall a great experience 5/5 stars.

We had been on other haunted pub crawls in Savannah, and thought we'd try this one for a new experience. We ended up with Lance, the amazing guide, and just us for a "private tour" and we were so so happy. Lance was the perfect combo of funny, historical, and haunting and the pacing was perfect. We captured many orbs, and a "skeleton" spirit in the window. You can see the skeleton and the orb "dancing" in the pics. The evening was a highlight of our weekend and we thank Lance and Tara for a great experience!

Giving two stars, because I'm feeling nice. Don't waste your money if you are expecting to go to 3-4 bars, and to be spooked. This was more like a regular walking tour to tell about the history of that town with a stop every hour and fifteen minutes. If that's what you are looking for then, this is the tour for you. We started a little late, which wasn't a big deal, but we weren't finished by 8 pm. Also, we had a group of 17, which was way too big, they need to cap it at like 10. It was August so it was hot (they can't help that) -- but they could maybe shorten their stories about some of the people into town that have nothing to do with the bars that we are supposed to be seeing. We stayed in front of the cemetery for 45 minutes or longer - no joke.. We stayed in the bars maybe 10 minutes or so then were back outside. I learned more about the Davenport house, than the actual bars that we saw.. It is an hour or more between each bar stop, to us that wasn't bar hopping that was just walking around Savannah. The group that was with us was just as disappointed as we were. I don't mind the history, but a haunted bar tour, should be mostly at the bars...not worth the money in my opinion. Buy the 6 dollar book from the gift shops and do your own tour if you're going to waste your money on this.When have you tried to contact me about my review, I don't have a single email, text, call, or even a facebook message from you. You may also disagree with my review all you want, but it is still my review. Meaning it is my opinion of your establishment. You say I'm exaggerating my experience, when that is completely false, we started at 530 and still "touring" at 8:20 and were not finished. You don't believe that I didn't enjoy it, what about the other 16 girls that left before the tour was finished. That should speak for itself. Don't try to come at me with you reply, on trying to make me look like I don't know what I'm talking about. I'm not the only bad review out there -- and I was nice in my review. Maybe learn to take some criticism, and learn from what I'm saying instead of being defensive about your false advertising. If I wanted a regular walking tour of Savannah, I would have signed up for one and I didn't. So no, you're actually wrong, Mr. Russell, the tour you provide was not enjoyable for me and the other 16 girls we were with. Did we ask for our money back? no.. So take the review, learn from it ( because you weren't there with us - keep that in mind) and move on, and make your establishment better - instead of putting down your customers. How you are still in business and you speak to people that way seriously blows my mind.

Stephanie was our tour guide for the night and she did a fantastic job! Since no one else had signed up for the tour it was just the three of us walking around and she was able to take a bit more time giving us fun facts about Savannah in general along with the tour. I am a scaredy cat so some of it was too much for me but I walked away so she could still tell my husband. She knew the bartenders at each of the pubs that we stopped at and obviously had close report with each of them. I did one of the Savannah haunted pub crawl tours a few years ago and I would highly recommend Tara's Haunted tours over others!

This was so much fun! We have been to Savannah multiple times and I learned so much that was new on this tour. Our tour guide, Amanda was really knowledgeable and personable. We loved being able to go to the second floor of Moon River Brewery. We booked last minute and ended being the only three people on the tour. This was so fun!

Really incredible locally owned and operated Savannah tour. We had a small intimate group with the owner herself. The haunted pub crawl was very fun and informative with fact-based ghost stories and local haunts (pun intended). I would highly recommend and will return when we're in town. This was one of the best ghost tours I've done in any city.

My husband and I were having trouble choosing tours to do on vacay and came across some awesome reviews on TripAdvisor so we decided to book. This was one of the best tours we have done for paranormal excursions. We ended up being the only ones to book for our time so bonus private tour. Our guide lyssa was so informative and made the tour both factual and entertaining. The moon river brewery alone makes this tour worth it. This place feels so creepy and haunted without even knowing the history behind it. My husband said he felt something was there one the tour with us which was a plus since that's why he came to visit savannah in the first place. This tour is so worth booking. Would definitely book again.

My wife and I went on Tara haunted tours Boos and brews ghost tour last night. Joan was our tour guide and she was amazing. We always go on this company's tours when we are in Savannah because they are so informative and fun..Joan told us about the history and the ghostly side of Savannah, she really made our tour fun and we will definitely be back for another tour soon Thank you to everyone at Tara's Haunted Tour's for making our trip so much fun.

Stephanie was our tour guide and she did such a phenomenal job! The group was small, so I felt that we were able to have a more personal experience (only 5 of use in the group). She did a great of of explaining the history of the sites we visited and the history of Savannah. It was educational, fun, and pretty spooky. I went home and kept watching the dark corners of my house for the Shadow Man. I recommend this tour to anyone wanting a fun night of scary stories, good drinks, and some history. The bars we visited were all very nice. Stephanie suggested the Irish Breakfast at O'Connell's, the Key Lime Shot at 17 Hundred 90, and the last bar was really cool to see the basement. Highly suggested tour group!

Our bachelorette party loved our Boos and Brews tour this past weekend. Our initial Savannah trip was canceled due to Hurricane Irma. I worked with Tara directly, and she made the process of refunding and rescheduling our tour very easy. When we finally did get to go, it was one of the highlights of our weekend. Our tour guide was Joan, who was hilarious and knowledgeable. I am not a ghost tour person, and was dreading it because I expected it to be really creepy. But it had a nice balance of creep and corn, and our whole group found it fun and entertaining and would happily go again.

I’ve taken several “haunted tours” in Savannah, even the Hearse tours in Savannah. This is by far the best tour there is. Hands downs! I’m a huge traveler so I’ve done many haunted tours in “America’s most haunted cities”. I have never been so impressed. The owner Lyn was amazing. She called me warning about the rain asking if I wanted my money back. ( No other tour has ever offered my money back for bad weather). The Tour guide was great as well. Not only did we learn so much about the city, we had a blast doing it. Who would of thought a history lesson would of been so much fun? Thanks again Tara Haunted Tours!

We did the Boos and Brews tour with Lance. Due to rain and being a Monday, it was just the 4 of us. It was nice having a private tour and Lance was full of history and stories. The drinks were really strong (we like that!) and it made walking the streets of Savannah very interesting! Haha! After this tour we have another date to watch "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil." Thanks Lance for making our last night so much fun!! We are anxious to review our pics for any interesting sights!

Every time I go to a "spooky" city I make it a point to go on at least one ghost tour. Tours like these are a great way to explore the city and learn the history. I did not know that Savannah is the most haunted city in the U.S. The only reason I didn't give a 5 star review was because we thought our tour guide left us behind. He told us to grab a drink and come back outside and when we went back outside he and the group weren't there. They had actually gone to the upstairs portion of the bar, but we thought they left us behind.

My boyfriend & I booked the Boos & Brews Ghost Tour which was so much fun. Stephanie was our guide & she did an excellent job. Her tour was the perfect mix of ghost stories, personal experiences and education/history (which I personally loved.) Stephanie also made the tour very personal and fun, and even gave my boyfriend & I some suggestions of places to go after the tour ended. Would highly recommend booking a tour with her!

We went to Savannah for a bachelorette party for my sister-in-law and booked our private tour with Wendy. There were about 14 of us, aged 23-30. Before we got started, about half the group was a worried about being bored on a historic tour of Savannah. They needn't have worried! Wendy was absolutely fantastic! She was hilarious, knowledgeable, sarcastic, and downright awesome! EVERY SINGLE ONE of us had a great time! Wendy tailored the tour to fit exactly what we were looking for and didn't try to make a tour with a bunch of tipsy girls too serious. She was absolutely delightful. Book Wendy if you're looking for a fun, funny, slightly scary tour of Savannah!!

A nice way to walk the city of Savannah learn some great history about the homes, squares and cemeteries with those GHOSTS as the backdrop. Our guide was well researched and some great personal stories. The earlier time was great for families and picture taking. No ghosts this time but maybe next time.An interesting and personal experience.

Our tour guide, Lyssa, was the perfect extension to our group, making the tour that much more enjoyable. The tour was a great mix between ghost stories, scandals, and bar hopping. We appreciated the fact that Lyssa shared stories and took us places that were “off the beaten path” and stuck to the facts instead of stretching the truth for the sake of being “scarier.” Lyssa has such a fun style of sharing stories in a captivating way!

I took the tour with Joan who someone suggested I go out with if I wanted the full experience. They were right! Joan was very entertaining as she would have us laughing one minute and looking over our shoulders the next. Not a big drinker so I stood outside the bars and talked to a few other guests until the tour picked back up. Will do it again next time in Savannah for sure!

My husband and I go to Savannah every year for our anniversary, and make a point to take a pub crawl tour with Tara's Haunted Tours! Being part of a 9-generation Savannah family, I love hearing about my ancestors and their contributions to Savannah when we take this tour!I highly recommend Tara's Haunted tours, and have a blast every time we take it, and have even had a few paranormal experiences while on it, and have some great pictures of them!Tara's guides are funny, knowlegable, and terrific at what they do, and if by chance you get to take a tour with Tara herself, you're in for a REAL treat, as she is a cornecopia of Savannah historical information!Haters are going to hate, but my husband and I absolute love Tara's Haunted Tours, and would recommend them to anyone looking for a fun evening activity, WITH COCKTAILS, while in Savannah.Thanks for always giving us such great tours, Tara...your company ROCKS! :)

The tour I went on was great. Was a small group of only three people and was able to enjoy my drinks while getting a fantastic tour of the darker side of the city. The guide was knowledge and very friendly. One tip is make sure you eat prior to your time and arrive early to chat with others and grab your first beverage prior to the tour starting.

After taking several awesome tours with Tara Haunted Tours in Savannah, my wife and I looked them up during a trip to St. Augustine. Once again, we couldn't have been more pleased with the experience. Our guide, Scathy, was very entertaining and informative. We were very impressed with his knowledge of the area and its stories. We would definately recommend Tara Haunted Tours to anyone interested in a fun and educational experience.

We took this fabulous ghost tour two years ago with Tara. Took it again this weekend with a group of friends, and had Chad, as out ghost tour guide. What a blast. Tara Tours really knows how to make people feel at home and give a great haunted tour. I would recommend this ghost tour to anyone looking for something fun to do at night in Savannah.

Stephanie was our tour guide and from the beginning, I knew something was off about her down to her Darth Vader book bag. She was accusing all of us of drinking prior to the tour and told us it was illegal to have thermoses and if the police asked that we had water. Stephanie then showed us pictures on her phone from when she worked at another tour and said we couldn't go there because she didn't work there anymore. Then we were shushed the entire walk to the bar and even scolded when walking across the street. Should've cut our losses a long time ago. Then we went to the first Pub, Moon River Brewing. While there we went to the basement and an employee of the Pub scared us and that was fun and we were laughing. Then he invited me to look in the storage room, so I went back and he was showing me the architect and then Stephanie came back there screaming at me. I politely walked by her and left the tour. Stephanie should not be allowed to work in any customer service industry. We tried getting our money back but was unsuccessful. The manager called us liars and wouldn't listen nor give us the owner's information. I hope the owner reads this and knows that the 1 star reviews that they are receiving are factual and are hurting the business. I have never been so insulted in my life.

My husband and I went on this tour on our first trip to Savannah 2 years ago. We had a great time and always recommend to any friends traveling to Savannah. We always just tell people it is the tour that starts at McDonough’s pub. We came back for a valentines trip and wanted to do the tour again before we leave on Monday, but considering the many tours in Savannah we wanted to make sure we got the same company. We were walking to McDonough’s pub when we walked past the tour guide and guests. We paused and I told my husband I was sure that was the tour we had went on. We were stopped for all of 1 minute when the guide stopped mid sentence to ask us if we were lost ,because this is paid tour.. my husband made a joke and said we were just walking to McDonough’s and we walked off.. she continued saying “good because there is plenty of FREE things they offer there.” The lady had a very hateful tone. This tour is multiple hours and we stopped for 1 minute on the sidewalk.

The tour guide knew lots of history and dates but went into more of that than was necessary considering the length of the tour and number of locations visited. The lengthiest tale she told ended up being a ghost story she was told as a child visiting Savannah and then she revealed it wasn't even true. That was a total waste of our time. Her story telling style was robotic and not as entertaining as we hoped. When one of our party became ill and had to go back to the car we left soon after realizing we weren't getting much "boo" for our bucks and actually relieved to have a reason to leave. The bus and trolley tours we kept seeing made us wish we had signed up for them instead. Tour guide's attitude detracted from the evening and number of spots we visited were disappointing to say the least. Not a ghost of a chance I'd recommend.

Our tour guide, Lance, was knowledgeable, comical and helpful. My husband and I were the only people on our tour. Unfortunately, we had to stop mid-tour because of physical issues (hip replacement surgery the following week and bit off more than he could walk). Lance was gracious and understood. Furthermore, he went out of his way to text me later that night to make sure we checked out a place we hadn't gotten to, and also to check on my husband. Then he text me the next day to suggest a good restaurant and using Pedi-Cab to get around to see Savannah due to my husband's walking issues.

Wow… What a wild ride! First of all, our tour guide Amanda was very knowledgeable and told a variety of stories at each location that I had not heard before. I learned several new things about the general history of Savannah that were fascinating as well!Now, our last stop was Moon River Brewing, which I’ve always heard was haunted, but I’ve never had an encounter. During this tour we actually had the opportunity to go upstairs to the 3rd floor, which is where things got strange. One, it’s very hot up there (no AC). Two, the space is incredibly eerie. It’s not been converted or renovated, and has only ambient light. Walking into the space, there was an immediate feeling of physical heaviness. One of my friends actually refused to enter the room. Those of us that did walk in were quite unsettled. I took a few steps towards a doorway at the back of the room, looked into the adjacent (very dark!) space, and immediately had a feeling of “Don’t look in there.” My other friend with me had the exact same feeling of dread and physical heaviness. Needless to say, we hightailed it out of there pretty quickly and retreated to the basement! Come to find out that a well-known and malevolent presence frequently accosts people in that exact space. We had no knowledge of this when we walked in. Creepy for sure!All in all, this tour was entertaining, informative, and left me with an experience I won’t soon forget. Try it for yourself!

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!! This company has also blocked me from reviewing their Facebook page! Yet still has al of our $$!We brought a group for the Boos and Brews tour and we’re so very disappointed. From the very beginning Stephanie, the tour guide, was very unprofessional! She let me know first thing that she had issues with another group, and after words told one of the customers “bye bitch” and saluted her!From there Stephanie continuously told us we were like herding cats, mind you, there were only six of us (3 not drinking at this point). The first 20 minutes she went over rules such as; we were not to speak when other tours were around. She reached out and grabbed one of our group and wouldn’t let her cross the street until she said she was allowed to go. As we were arriving at our fist stop we asked if we could stop in at another place as well, instead of explaining that she had a routine she very forcefully said “NO NO NO” and left it at that.When we arrived at Moon River Brewing, she said we were not to drink until after her tour, then became extremely agitated when a group member asked to grab water before going to the basement.Upon entering the basement we met an employee who scared the daylights out of us (he laughed it off as well), at that point Stephanie ran over and started telling us we had to be quiet. Mind you, we were all just laughing WITH AN EMPLOYEE, at a very loud brewery at 9:30pm!! Stephanie then said she was going to sit a bit while we looked around. One group member asked the employee who was still in the basement,about the back room he was going in. He replied “come on” and showed her some of the architecture where they house the can goods. At this point Stephanie ran over screaming for her to come from the room.Our group member was so uncomfortable with the exchange that she promptly left the room, went upstairs, and left all together.When another member of our group asked me asked if we should get our money back Stephanie became extremely hostile and “called her manager”. I asked to speak to her as well, she Had someone on the phone who was extremely sick and could barely speak. I apologized for the inconvenience, And let her know that Stephanie’s behavior was unacceptable. Her manager let me know that she would speak to her boss and see what they could do if we would be leaving the tour to get our money back. When I went to hand the phone to Stephanie, she snatched it out of my hand and stormed halfway up the steps. From there she continuously pointed her fingers at me and became even more combative. At that point I had enough and we got into a shouting match. Where Stephanie let me know we were not her customers and not only was the tour done, we were to leave Moon River Brewing immediately.30 or so minutes later she pushed passed us on the sidewalk.Upon calling today, her manager called me a liar multiple times. She also said she spoke with Moon River and they showed tapes of this all going down and that Stephanie did nothing! It was all my groups fault.I have spoke with Moon River Management and they let me know they have not spoken with Her manager or given any tapes.Not only did The manager at Tara haunted tours Refuse to give me her name. She let my husband Know that if we emailed or reached out to the owner she would be screening all calls and emails prior to him receiving them. As the owner was stuck in Australia due to Covid restrictions.I have never experienced this type of service!!! It is sad to know that there are businesses out there treating their customers this way. Especially when they are willing to supported them through this pandemic. They make local businesses look very bad.

I was so looking forward to the tour we were told about by Jacqueline (if I am spelling that right). I told her we would not be able to go to the 8pm because we have family meeting up in Savannah tonight so she offered a 530pm happy hour tour tonight which I agreed to and she charged me for. We were early our meeting point and had a drink asking the bar tender where we should wait for our tour. After waiting over an hour and calling multiple times and leaving messages we realized our tour guild "Ghosted" us. My husband called and she answered tell us she never told us about a 530 tour and said she was going to refund our money.I called back to just to make sure I did not miss understand and was hung up on. Then I called again and Jacqueline answered "How can i f**king help you Mrs Dettler" and then hung up.I was really looking forward to this. Sad.

My wife called around 11:30am local time, and asked about tour times. We said really was best because we had more company coming later. Jackie said there was a happy hour tour that started at 5:30pm and it was the same as the 8pm, just cheaper drinks with the happy hours.We were at McDonough's at 5:15 as instructed, but waited until after 6pm with no contact. The bartender assured us she'd be there but it never happened. My wife and another friend tried calling and left voicemails. I finally called and got an answer, and when I asked about my wife's reservation and payment confirmation they claimed we were lying about reserving a 5:30pm tour.They said they'd refund our purchase, which I asked for. My wife called to see if she'd misunderstood the conversation from the morning and was sworn at and hung up on.Bottom line, after seeing other reviews and now our experience I'd say STAY AWAY!

We went on the Boos & Brews tour last night with Georgann. We've been on a few of the ghost tours in Savannah, and hubby and I both agree that this tour and tour guide are by far the worst we've had the unfortunate luck to get stuck with. Like another poster said, she started out with a buzz, and it steadily got worse as the long boring evening wore on. At the 2nd bar we went to, she told the bartender she wanted a drink, but didn't have any money. The bartender had "that" look on her face, but gave up a Corona anyways.She claimed to be a native Savannian, yet only knew stories (sort of) about the places we walked to. Hubby and I seemed to know more about the city and it's ghosts than she did. When we spoke of 432 Abercorn St., she quickly shut me up saying we don't talk about the places we don't go, and I've never heard anything about that address...REALLY? Hmmm...look it up!I'm also pretty sure the water bottle she was carrying had vodka instead of water in it. She got more slurry as the night went on.The jist of it is, that I WON'T recommend this tour company to anyone. except of course you're only interested in paying to watch someone else get a buzz....if I could give MINUS STARS, I sure would.
