I’ve been seeing Meera at Steven PapaGeorge for a while now, and I’ve had my hair done multiple times. Each experience has been exceptional. Most recently, I had a haircut and full highlights, and Meera once again delivered outstanding results. Her expertise and attention to detail shine through every time. She takes the time to understand exactly what I want and provides excellent suggestions that suit my style and hair type. The haircut was precise, and the highlights were beautifully blended, leaving me with a fresh, vibrant look. Every visit to Meera leaves me feeling confident and satisfied. I highly recommend her for anyone looking to revamp their look with a touch of expertise and care.

I have been coming to Steven Papageorge Salon for years and now I’m happy to say that they’ve done my hair and my bridal party’s hair for my wedding!We had hair trials and they took into account my wedding dress, my hair type and my vision to ultimately help me create a look that I’d love (this includes pre wedding day prep like hair coloring, hair cuts, etc.) I’m so happy with how it turned out!!! ❤️ oh and my bridal party looked absolutely amazing too!I would definitely recommend checking them out for your wedding hair!

Analie is THE BEST. I don’t trust anyone else with my hair. No matter the length, she always gets it looking beautiful. My hair is naturally wavy, and all I have to do is straighten it a bit and the cut makes it look like a fresh blowout even months later. I added photos of it short & long, as you can see she’s done an incredible job with both lengths!!!

Analie has been doing my hair for years now, and I will never trust anyone else to do my hair! This most recent time I got a much needed haircut and a refresh of my color. She always brings it EACH TIME!!! My hair not only looks great, but it feels great! I always get compliments, and its all due to her giving me amazing color. This salon is the best you’ll find in the Chicago area! Located in downtown Evanston, it’s in the heart of a vibrant and family-friendly community and also near Lake Michigan.There is no place else I would trust to have my hair done. I continuously go for my haircuts and highlights (guylights). They are attentive and caring to your every want/need and will always strive to give you the best service and final product.They are also pet lovers, so be sure to ask about bringing your furry friend along to your appointment.

The staff at the Papageorge salon is second to none. A family operation and you can feel it. I felt right at home when they squeezed me in for a last second men’s cut today!Not only that, but the hair cut was top tier. My stylist, Tasos, went out of his way to explain for to me the best and simplest way to style my ticker hair. Thanks for squeezing me in Ellie!

Meera did my blowout for our engagement photos! She did a spectacular job and got me in an out in an hour. I have very thick hair so that is not always the case for me! Meera made me feel right at home and even bought me flowers to celebrate this special day! I would 100% recommend Meera to anyone who is looking for exceptional services with a smile! Found this place in grad school and have come back even after moving away. Analie really knows what she is doing and is gifted at translating pictures and bad descriptions of what you think you want into what you actually wanted and didn’t know how to describe, whether it’s cut, color, highlights babylights tealights teasylights I-don’t-know-what-else kind of lights. All I know is it looks great and grows out flawlessly. Other folks who I’ve seen come in and out get great haircuts and highlights too. Highly recommend.

I have been getting hair cuts regularly since at least August with Analie. My hair was so bad at one point before she cut it that I couldn’t leave the house with out a hat on. However, her amazing hands and great knowledge about everything hair, and their amazing products my hair has fully transformed from drab over dyed (elsewhere) cut way too short (elsewhere) to amazing long healthy glowing hair. I waited a year to color my hair and Ellie absolutely out did herself and made me feel soo beautiful again; this is my favorite color I’ve ever had and I’ve had a LOT! Now whenever I go anywhere people compliment my hair and I owe it all to these lovely stylist at Steven Papageorge salon! 😍 see the photos! Short and dark to natural highlights. I've been a loyal client of Steven Papageorge Salon for many years, visiting nearly every two weeks. If that doesn't say enough, let me make it clear—I absolutely love this salon! The men’s scissor over comb haircuts are consistently top-notch, using only the highest quality hairstyling products. The staff is incredibly friendly and always helpful with scheduling my appointments in advance. I've even referred my wife and my trainer, who now love coming here for her haircuts too. Had a haircut with Ming 10/10! Months later, I’m a repeat color client as well and my hair quality has greatly improved due to her advice.She is meticulous about her craft, listens to what you want but makes it so much better. If you are needing advice/help with your hair and its health this salon seems to be the place. I've been unhappy with my hair's quality over the past year and seriously needed guidance on cut, color, product etc. Ming was so helpful and patient with me as I’ve had bad past experiences with color. They clearly take their time with clients and care about the fine details. Blondes… rest assured you are in great hands with Ming! Would highly recommend.

I recently visited Steven Papageorge for a haircut and balayage, and I couldn't be happier with the results! As someone with naturally red hair, finding a stylist I can trust is always a bit nerve-wracking. However, they truly are the best here. The stylists are incredibly nice and welcoming. They took the time to listen to what I wanted and gave their own opinions when I asked as well. The balayage they did is absolutely stunning and blends perfectly with my natural red hair. Their attention to detail and commitment to making sure I was comfortable and happy truly sets them apart. Cannot recommend enough!

About a year ago, I visited Sue for a haircut after my hair had been severely overprocessed at another salon. That first appointment was a true color correction, and Sue worked wonders to restore my hair's health and vibrancy. A color correction in a haircut!Since then, I’ve returned for follow-up color appointments, and I can confidently say my hair has never looked more beautiful. The blonde color is stunning, and the haircut is so well done that it practically styles itself!I have been so impressed with the results that I encouraged my mom to make an appointment right away. I have been coming to SP Salon since 2019. I’ve since moved all the way to Wicker Park and still make the commute to see my stylist, Ming. I can honestly say I’ve never had a stylist that understands my hair type so well and I always have a good time when I’m in her chair! I’d recommend SP for anyone who expects high quality products (they use R+Co professional line), great technique, and stylists they can trust!

Dropping a Warning HereThe pricing at this salon is outrageous, and the skills of their hairdressers are highly questionable. The experience I had was beyond unacceptable. One of the hairdressers actually straightened a freshly permed hair, which shows a complete lack of professionalism and perhaps even animosity.There was a clear suspicion of racism towards Chinese customers. During our discussion (where we didn't even ask for a refund, just an apology or acknowledgment of their mistake), they blamed the issue on us not understanding what they said, which is utterly false.Additionally, when my friend asked for a simple curl during the blow dry, the hairdresser refused, saying, "Oh, your kind of hair is too straight, I can't do it," despite having an entire drawer of curlers right next to her. She said the same thing to me, and when I pointed out that my hair was freshly permed, she dismissively said, "Oh, I don't see." This level of rudeness and refusal to provide basic service is unacceptable.Initially, we weren't planning to write any reviews or ask for a refund. We paid over $700 for three people, with one person's hair being completely ruined for $300. All we wanted was a decent attitude and some accountability. Instead, they ganged up on us, refuting everything we said and calling us ignorant and unprofessional.If you can't do the job, say so from the beginning, instead of saying "I'll try" and then failing miserably without admitting it. The dye job they did was worse than something I could have done myself with a product from Target. We asked for "the same color brown," and ended up with hair that looks like the back of a Tabby cat.Avoid this place at all costs.

Beautiful interior design and good location are not everything. Great place and very nice people working there. Meira did a wonderful job. The color of my hair is better than I expected, and the professional cut means that my hair practically styles itself. Full professionalism and a nice atmosphere make you want to come back for more. I definitely recommend it and can't wait for my next visit.

Update: I appreciate the response. Yes, the level of detail is great! I recall discussing price briefly, however, my recollection is I was told price may increase for amount of hair I have and what base price was. It may behoove you to confirm exact price at salon so uncomfortable moments like this don't happen.I do see your points. I've just been to several salons in the US who never charged me so much extra simply for having more hair (which is what sounds like happened). I also had similar services done which didn't take close to 5.5 hours... I stand by my points about the site. I did ask for ashy/cool tone at 1st & then had the stylist just do whatever she thought would be best, which was neutral highlights... Anyway, I wish you all the best and you clearly have a great clientele!!Let me just start by saying they do incredible work here. The atmosphere is warm & cozy.I went in Sept. 2023 and never got to writing a review until now as I need to get my highlights touched up (and have neglected doing so) and am considering where to go. I thought I would share my thoughts about why I may not come back.In Sept., I had full highlights and haircut done. Again, their work is amazing and it looked incredible. I had taken a look at the prices online and calculated roughly what I should pay so I knew going in. This is always what I have done for salons.I understand as per their website that these are starting prices and it totally makes sense that some stylists charge more. But what about the case where one does not get to choose their stylist? Or doesn't know what that specific stylist charges? This was the case for me. In my opinion, it shouldn't be a shock when I go up to pay and the bill is suddenly $100 more than I thought it might be. It was explained to me that because I have such thick hair, that can lead to a price increase. I don't believe this is fair and I don't know of any other salon that does this. Also, sure I have a lot of hair, but I also have a size-able undercut. So with the undercut, I have a pretty normal amount of hair. The other thing that can increase price is stylist expertise. I can tell you that my stylist did not seem the most experienced (which is fine), and she had to ask another one for help a couple of times.Think of this example, too: When you shop online for clothing, USUALLY, a 2X is the same price as, say, a Large. I understand maybe there is more labor or product used for folks with more hair, but like I said, I've never heard of this causing a significant price increase and I think it poses an equity issue similar to the clothing size example.This again has NOTHING to do with the quality of work here. It is outstanding. But if I have to guess what the price is going to be at the counter, that is not super friendly to those of us who have any sort of budget and it is not very forthcoming. And this is partly my own fault for not confirming prices. So I DO 100% take some responsibility there! I just think that simply putting an * next to all your prices online with a blanket statement about how price is arbitrary based on stylist expertise and how much hair you have is not the most forthcoming. Because at the end of the day, I can go to pay and you can charge however much extra you would like whether it's $100, $150. Do you get what I mean? It feels unforthcoming and perhaps not the best way to do business. I think the website could be laid out in a better, clear way that I have seen other salons do. For example, explicitly sharing the range of price PER stylist. This is something I highly suggest this company take into consideration rather than the * statement.Because of this, while I enjoy the work they did, I do not feel super eager to come back here and will go elsewhere for partial highlight.TLDR: Excellent work. Pricing feels a bit unforthcoming so people with budgets beware as blanket statements on website allow them to charge more in a way that feels arbitrary. I take some responsibility here, too. Lesson learned--confirm exact price before sitting in chair.

Went for first time yesterday. New to area and always find it hard to find a stylist good with long hair/layering. Got a recommendation for Jenny and she was awesome! She did a fantastic consultation to figure out my hair, hear what I liked and give her recommendations (without being pushy at all). You could tell she knew a lot about hair/texture and it was important to her that she gave you a cut you were comfortable styling at home (gave great tips). Besides a great cut, she gives a fabulous blow-out!

This is the best salon by far!! Analie is amazing - I highly recommend her and this salon! Everything she has done for me turns out to look so wonderful that I get compliments for months. The color lasts forever. The bayalage is phenomenal! And I always leaving feeling very happy because she and her team are so talented, sweet and fun!Everyone who works in the salon is very nice, warm and inviting. Every time I'm there I see that the salon follows covid-19 precautions, which also makes me feel very safe.If you want the BEST, then don't even think twice and go to this awesome salon! I've never had more beautiful hair until I started coming to this salon about 2 years ago!!

Would never get my hair done anywhere else! Amazing service and highly skilled hair stylists. I got my cut and hair color with Analie Papageorge and absolutely love it. She does amazing balayage that looks so seamless, I get compliments on it all the time. As someone who was a little nervous to get hair color for the first time, I'm so happy with the result!!

This was my first experience at S. P. I walked in off the street and a stylist could see me right away! The receptionist was polite and offered me a drink. Nicole took very good care of me. I have thinning hair and a VERY sensitive scalp. She took her time, was extremely gentle, and checked in with me often. I really appreciated how much time and care she took, despite the fact that I walked in towards the end of the day. I will absolutely recommend her and S. P. to friends and family.

Steven Papageorge is definitely the best salon for Northwestern students. Every time I go the stylists take their time carefully explaining what they are doing and giving me tips and tricks to style. I appreciate the care that each stylist has and I always walk away happy. I just had a full balayage done and I couldn't be happier. SP is the place to go in Evanston!

Good haircut, not amazing. For the price, I’d expect more, but my issue is with the service. The times I’ve been in, the front desk attendants seem blasé and unwilling to help. They recently raised prices, but did not inform patrons. When I asked, no one could give me a straight answer about why I was charged what I was charged. In terms of the overall experience, they continue to insist that because of covid, they can’t offer water, coffee, tea, wine (mainstays for all salons I have been to in Miami and New York before moving to Evanston). It’s bizarre - Hardly any customers are wearing masks, so this seems like a cost saving mechanism more than anything. The last time I went in was truly disappointing, since my stylist was running 30 minutes behind. I informed them I had other appointments that day and was leaving for my honeymoon the next day, so I had to get a move on. No water for the wait, and their answer after 20 minutes of waiting was to have a front desk employee (who seemed irritated that I had interrupted her conversation) wash my hair, which was a debacle in and of itself, since I specifically wanted a special treatment for my hair. I had to have my hair washed twice, and I ended up leaving without a blow dry because of their terrible timing. I left feedback on their internal feedback form, but received no response. I doubt anyone is checking.In sum, I would give my first experience a 4 and the second a 2, so I’m leaving this at a 3 and suggest you look elsewhere.**Update: I find it telling that the owner gave an immediate and in-depth response here, only after I left a review publicly. Why ask for feedback online privately (which I gave) if you’re not going to check it and follow up? To me, speaks of poor customer service, which is why I gave you all 3 stars to start with. A top-down issue? I hope you can bring back drinks and train your customer associates to be a little more on the ball.

OK, for the last 50 years, I have gone to the cheapest haircut place around. As a guy, I never saw the difference between a $5 dollar or $15 haircut, which was my range over the years. I happened to go over to the salon when my usual place was completely booked up and I didn’t feel like waiting. All I can say is, wow, was I wrong about spending money on my hair.From the moment that Elie graciously and personally checks me in, through the soothing shampoo (where I almost fall asleep every time), to the superb cut that Elise gives me, all I can say is it’s a terrific experience. My hair looks great, behaves perfectly, and I take more pride in my appearance as a result.Do yourself a favor, and have Elise cut your hair!

I scheduled my appointment more than two weeks ago for a haircut and babylights. After getting my haircut I was told I was not scheduled for babylights. I was confused and explained that I had emailed and confirmed my appt on the phone-I had to call and make a deposit as a new client. The receptionist asked to see the emails detailing what I wanted and then apologized for the mistake. She tried to find a new appointment for me but it was pointless. I couldn’t get in before my sister’s wedding, which is why I scheduled everything for today. Really sad and disappointed.

Update after 1 month: The red's unfortunately already faded overall after just 3 washes and is more dark orange-ish in some parts after using the exact recommended shampoo and conditioner, so taking a star off for that. I know red's high maintenance but after just 3 washes is a little sad.I got a haircut and red balayage done and I love how it turned out. Analie and Ming are very skilled and both have been in the business for quite some time. I would recommend their services. When I felt the red came too bright, Analie and her team quickly made corrections to make it look a darker shade. Wednesdays and Thursdays are no blow dry days due to covid and I'd have loved to see the results with a proper blow dry but it's a fair precaution so I won't complain. Overall I had a great experience and I would recommend their services. BTW they have moved to 602 Davis.

I fell in love with Steven Papageorge Salon after having my sharp bob from a stylist who wasn't cutting it evenly corrected there. I know bobs require a lot of work, and Steven Papageorge always gave me beautiful, consistent results. When I decided to grow my hair out (after not having long hair in almost a decade), they guided me through the process, and were very honest about any changes or products I needed or did not need.Also, since I had a bad experience with lightening my very dark hair at a different salon once before, I was quite set on never doing it again. When growing out my hair, Analie suggested I lighten it a little to bring out my eye and skin color. She really earned my trust through the bob years, so I thought I'd give it another try, and basically gave her free reign over color. She did such a great job with lightening and balayage, I've become very open to dying my hair, and love the lighter change she brought on. I'm obsessively particular about my hair - I've cried over bad haircuts before - but that's never happened at Steven Papageorge. That's why I love them, I always leave the salon with my hair looking amazing!It was also the first place I ever had my eyebrows shaped. I'm always paranoid about someone messing up my brows, and always do them myself. However, Caroline made them look fantastic!I visited Steven Papageorge for gloss, blowouts, and curls too, and prefer to get my hair products there. I find the staff knowledgable, friendly and focused on getting things right. I actually commute from the other side of the city to go there - it's always worth the trip! I've been going to Steven Papageorge, and no one else, for almost three years now!

If I could give this place more then 5 stars, I would. I found them through a sponsored ad on Instagram. I am very particular about who cuts my hair and have had so many bad cuts from other salons. I followed them on Instagram to see what kind of cut and work they did and I fell in love. The hair they do here is amazing. They have unbelievable customer service. They address you by name when you walk in the door and offer you a drink. My stylist has been the only person to cut my hair to fit my face and not just bluntly cut. You feel so special here. There is nothing that matches this place!
