Ben Owen failed to run my payment after calling me and taking my credit card information on Feb 9, 2021 for renewing my policy. As a result, my policy had lapsed without my knowledge and my claim was denied for coverage for my accident on March 23, 2021.
I have done business with Ben for over 6 years for both home and auto and he had known for the last 3 years that I have moved to TX. Despite that, he was careless to put my AR address on my ID cards after repeated reminders. In December 2020, I reminded him again that my ID cards were showing incorrect AR address, and heard nothing back. After giving him my credit card info in Feb 2021, I did not receive my cards so I emailed him AND his assistant Juliana on 3/11/21 asking for my updated cards. Again, I heard nothing back.
On the day of the accident, I made 5 attempts to connect with him from the location of my accident and failed. When he finally spoke to me he told me the insurance had lapsed due to non payment. I reminded him about the phone call in Feb where he took down my credit card info. He stated forgot to run my payment on Feb 9th after getting my card information. My follow up email on 3/11/21 about the updated address on ID cards should have prompted him but I got no response for that.
I tried to talk to him and he admitted he forgot but took no responsibility for this. I called Shelter's customer service multiple times and also spoke to the district manager who promised to resolve this matter but he disappeared as well. I have emails and recorded phone calls to prove everything I am claiming.
I wrote to Ben one last time on March 25th to give him an opportunity to resolve this but he has not responded to any of my communication since.
I had to come up with the money to fix my car and the car rental for over a week out of pocket. The mental stress this has caused me and the financial burden is inexplicable.
